Yeah in Erie I was standing too upright, you guys had me lower my hands with better posture. Β Like most things I have overdone it. Β Meeting with Jared for a lesson Thursday.

Ah yes, it was the opposite. Now I recall. I just remembered we changed that position quite a bit. You have over-done it. :)

The top of your backswing should continue to feel "up" and "wide."

Get lots of stuff from Jared and feel free to have him call me before-hand if he wants.

Good luck. :D

P.S. IMO It's not a follow-through issue. I think it's a backswing/transition/downswing issue (with transition being the part I'd focus on). @mvmac take a look and see if you agree?

Okay, I will update this thread with what we work on as well. Β Obviously I don't know much, but I do still feel something is very much off with the bold part. Β I don't feel I have found it yet and don't even know that I am close. Β I know the overtaking in the exit is fugly, but I am not even worried about that until I can find the transition. Β My apparent need to feel things extremely and over-do them just kills my progress.

Yes definitely agree. Things do need to widen out on the backswing. When you get this narrow, the shaft will get a little steep in transition and you need to tip the head back in order to shallow things out which can cause you to swing across the ball.

So here's what I would work on

- Handle higher at one, pointed at the top of your belt

- Toe more up at 2, do it with the motion of the right arm.

- Softer upper back, don't add too much stretch in too early (yellow arrows).

Thanks @mvmac and @iacas , I can already feel that adding the width will help a bunch in the downswing.Β  I will work on this and the segmented drill to get 2 and the transition better.Β  I will get that handle pointed more at the belt as well.Β  Thanks guys!Β  By December May I should be playing some great golf. ;-)

Good.

Hit from here (left) not there (right):

Better yet, hit from the orange spot (butt of club).

Nate, I can barely tell the difference between those two swings! If it weren't for the crease in your jacket near your trailing elbow, I would think it was exactly the same.

Progressing very nicely, I see. :-)

Yep, agree. It will actually make it easier for you to draw the ball from there.

It is actually the same swing.Β  What Erik was showing was that before moving the club to the ball the hands got a bit deeper and dropped a bit.Β  Maybe you caught that but just in case.Β  Small details though.Β  That is my tendency, if I swing out I get the handsΒ deep and low.Β  Habits are hard to break.Β  I have been trying to get the club wider, with theΒ hands more to the left picture as I transition into the downswing.Β  When I can keep the hands from getting overly deep I tend to get too steep coming down, like some of my more recent swings.Β  Getting the hands like the picture on the left andΒ then transitioning to aΒ shallow downswing is hard for me to get.

Last time to hit the range before it closes. Β I eventually hit the ball in the drill swing. Β Looking to get a winter setup to continue working on this over the winter. Β Finally starting to feel I can swing out without hooking the ball. Β Still needs some serious time over the winter.

Very good.

No FO so the only caution is to make sure you're getting to that "top" position (which will be longer in a full swing) by turning. Make sure it's not just arms to that point. I don't think it is but just wanted to say it.

Thanks. Β I know I have a tendency to "feel" a bit too much of the arms with it. Β Trying to get toe up at 2 sometimes gives me an arms feel. Β I have been working on trying to keep the turning rates up going back.
