What about you washing machine guys ... do you guys use one of the plastic thingies like the dishwasher guys, or just throw it in there loose?  Also, do you throw it in alone or with an entire load?

From what I gather, either way is going to work, so I'll probably just flip a coin to decide which I try first.

I was hoping for more of a steak smell lingering in the hat.

I throw my brim in the washing machine with the other clothes and simply pull it out of the pile and let it dry on it's own.  No plastic thingy.

In the plastic thing with the rest of the laundry, unfortunately, the hat always slides out.

Hmmmm...starting to wonder if all these sweaty hat tips would work on my underwear too. :-)

You might also find the yellowing comes from sunscreen. I know white t's and polos get yellower necks when I wear sunscreen, especially if applied freshly before putting on the t or polo.

That may apply to some of your yellowing, and I also find it is very tough to get out without a whitener in the wash.
