I was watching school of golf today and he said use foot spray instead of impact tape. Has anyone ever done this? Is it easy to get off? Does it work well?

what about blue painters tape?  If you put it on the club loosely the impact will leave a pretty visable ball print on the tape.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

I use green masking tape, but the ball imprint only shows on anything more than a half swing. So for chipping or short pitch shots, it doesn't leave a visible mark on there. But it still works for me.

Ryan

I tried athlete's foot spray and tapes. I like using oil pastels. Cheaper, more portable, a little better in wet conditions. A little messy though.

I feel like athletes foot spray would be good because I wouldn't have to worry about it coming off easily. I would only do this on my driver because there is less turf interaction. It will last longer on a driver I would think.

I have a square foot section of a rubber mat flooring used at professional gyms. Using sidewalk chalk on the mat itself shows me exactly where the club bottoms out.

I use a dry erase marker , just have to wipe it off with a towel

Do you put it on the ball or the club face?

I use impact stickers from longshotgolf.  The good thing about them is that I can peel them off the club face after practice and onto a piece of paper to take home and refer to later, with notes I add to explain what I was trying at the time.  Like this:

You can get the impact stickers at: http://www.longshotgolf.com/productdetailsheet.aspx?CategoryID=5&ProductID;=3380

I got my first stickers at golfsmith in an introductory package.

I often use a colored (blue, red, green) sharpie and color my practice golf balls with a circle. The sharpie will transfer to your club. It is really easy to clean too so long as you use something like Dawn dish soap and a rag, or a towel (I use a micro-fiber towel). Probably not the "easiest" approach, but works well and there's no barrier between the club-face and ball by doing so.

Edit: I know of some old-timers at my local course who used to, and still do, use food coloring on their balls for the same effect. Easier clean up and similar to Easter egg painting lol.

Wow. That does work great! Is it as dramatic on the irons as well? Definitely gonna buy a can for the range. Thanks.

My Titleist 910D2 has a black face.  I don't even need impact tape because range balls leave a little mark on the face.  I just wipe the face before every shot.

Hi, ever heard of or used Mark It from http://www.markit-golf.com/ or On mark http://www.dwquailgolf.com/training/onmark2.html ?  Wondering how they would do

They work fine but not environmentally friendly, smell, expensive, don't last a long time, harder to wipe off the club, etc... I tried the yellow stuff gave up on it after two cans. Dry Erase Marker or Oil Pastel.

It does work very well on all clubs. I usually play my round with my driver coated if I am struggling so I can make adjustments on the fly.... wipes off easy with a damp towel and smells great!

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
