If you play or have played golf in a non-English speaking country, what do you/did you yell instead of "Fore!"

Or if you play or played in an English speaking country where golfers yell something instead of "Fore!"

Please fill us in on the country & language in addition to telling us what you yelled.

Some people - myself included - have enough time to yell "Shit!", but not "Fore!" Or I'll whistle in their direction, and then yell "Fore".
"Shouldn't you be going faster? I mean, you're doing 40 in a 65..."

According to Mitch Hedberg, most people don't yell "fore" because they're too busy saying "there's no way that ball's going to hit that guy."

When I need to yell fore (more and more rare these days), I'll follow it up with direction, such as "Fore! Fifth fairway."

I couldn't think that fast, given I'm prone to topping my ball such that the ball flight is low and fast. I just shout "fore", or "fore left / right"

I played in a competition on Saturday - by accident, but that's a story for another thread - and played true to form, given I've been golfing for three months. The ball was topped, but just bounced a little and went pretty slowly towards one of my three ball who had walked on in front. The ball was no danger, except that he could have stopped it if it trickled towards his shoe. So I shouted "watch out", to which the 17 year old 12 handicapper feigned disdain, and said "You mean fore..." At least I hope he was feigning. I'm not that bloody stupid. andy.

That'd be funny if it was "four" and not "fore."

Well, we ran into a guy that was teeing off in our direction. He hit his ball in the pond right infront of my buddy trying to line up his shot (a pretty bad tee shot for the guy hitting at us). He then thinks it'll be a good idea to hit a second ball to the exact same place, only about 15 feet further. My friend literally had to jump out of the way of the ball to avoid getting hit. When we crossed him on the cart path, we curtiously said, "How 'bout a fore guys?"

He replied, "You mean i'm supposed to watch my ball EVERY time i hit it?" An argument ensues, and needless to say the moral of the story is please say something, don't just stare at your ball in amazement. BTW, this was not a top of the line club, the guy hitting at us was in cut-off jean shorts (jorts) and a tank top, with a big 120 cigerette hanging off his lip. So that oughta tell you the caliber of people we were with.
I'm only at 13 clubs in the bag, what do you reccomend as a 14th? My foot wedge?

That reminds me of a story I have. It's not the same situation, but it reminded me...

The 17th hole at my club is a par five. The 18th tee is set about 100 yards back and left of the 17th green, so players walk back and left to get to the tee. I was on 17 and some guys were slowly making their way to the 18th tee. They were pretty wide and I'm pretty good, so I hit. My ball didn't cut very much, and it started heading towards the lingering guy. My ball was cutting, and I saw it sliding to at least five yards wide of him. I also knew it would likely land 20 yards beyond the guy. I said nothing. One of his playing partners tried to give me a "talking to" later on because they saw my ball land. I saw the guy I effectively "missed" by 20+ yards in the grill room later and said "Hey, sorry, I'd have yelled 'fore' but I knew it was going to miss you by a wide margin and I didn't want you to duck and run away and perhaps head towards where the ball was going." In other words, if a ball is clearly going to miss someone, I generally say nothing. I don't want them to, in trying to avoid the ball, run into it. If there's any doubt (and any time there's a tree nearby, there's doubt), I give a fore and the location ("Fore on 16!") if possible.

    • Day 22: mirror work for a while. Working on my elbow in the downswing - keeping it in a better position.
    • Day 36 (16 Dec 25) - continued the exaggerated left foot weight shift trigger adding some easy low flighted pitches with the 5h and a few putting style bump and runs with the 5h as well.
    • Day 442 - 2025-12-16 Got some swings in at an indoor academy a little south of Erie.
    • Has anyone played the new Maxfli forged irons? For the first time in I don't know how many years, they have come out with new clubs. From what I read, Maxfli was bought by Taylor Made a long time ago which then took all of their ball making technology and patents in order to get into that market. The club business was left to whither and the reorganized company, now a part of Dicks / Golfworks / Maltby, is producing these new clubs. (Their Tour X balls which I play are really good.) Anyway, I tried them both out at Golf Galaxy. There's a player's distance iron (XC-3) and a blade (XC-2) and both feel really, really nice, almost "Mizuno-like" in their soft buttery feel and they're a bargain at $800 for a set. I'm planning to ditch my Titleist's and want to go back to a forged iron. I almost pulled the trigger on the Mizuno Pro-245's last summer, but a damaged tendon sheath in my finger combined with a back injury messed up my golf game so I held off. Now the Pro-245's are no longer available, soon to be replaced by the MX-15. (At twice the price of the Maxfli's...that's what got my attention in the first place.) If anyone has played with the new Maxfli's or just tried them out like I did, let me know what you think.
