quick question for the Evolvr teachers.  I as a big proponent of lessons and TST was thinking about giving Evolvr a chance.

Do the students dictate what they want to improve (help me hit the ball straighter, farther, lower, higher, etc) or does a student submit a video with 1-2 different clubs and the instructor pick the most important piece to work on and provide drills to improve on that thing?

Thank you

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

Honestly it's a bit of both. We recommend two swings (DL, FO views) with a 6-iron to start. Tell us what your problem shots are (the shots you hate, what you're trying to get rid of), what your good shots do, etc. That's basically how you tell us "what you want to improve."

We have had instances in the past where someone who clearly doesn't even hit the ball solidly says things like "I want to draw the golf ball" and we have to first get them hitting the ball solidly, but that still goes to "drawing the golf ball" eventually. We just can't promise it in all cases immediately .

I have a general question.  I was thinking about signing up for evolvr because I agree with the 5 simple keys and like the "measurability" of whether you've actually incorporated each key into your swing but I want a more traditional looking swing rather than SnT.  Is that something you guys can accomodate?

5SK is not S&T.; 5SK is EVERY good swing. We have students who have their arms rather high, many who hit fades, some who translate a little, etc.

Good stuff from @buckshot4227

Adding "lag" by improving his sequencing (Key 1 and 2). Didn't get this pic by "holding" the wrist angles ;-)

For someone that has an overactive right arm, would you have them feel like they are just only releasing #4?

Tough to answer without seeing the swing, the "over active" right arm is probably just be a result of something else.

Want to give a shout out to Brian, sent in 3 videos this month and am very happy with the instruction. Syncing arms/hips a tad better - only a week between the swings, so not going to see a huge amount of change so difference is very subtle, but on the right track. If I'm reading these photos right, the hips are a tad less rotated on the bottom.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
