What club do you use to hit a 200 yards par-3?

if its playing 200yds i'll usually hit a 4-iron. tailwind i'll hit a 5-iron. headwind a 3-iron.

Exactly how I play it. Even then I've over hit a 200yd hole by 20 yards with the 4 iron.

At my golf course hole 8 is a 210 yard pard 3. I hit on with a 3 iron, i ended up beinga little llong, probably around 215-220.

I've hit anywhere from 3-wood to 5-iron (assuming a flat hole). The 7th at Lake View (see sig) is about 200 yards, and almost always straight into the wind.

Dead calm, flat hole = 4iron. Might come up a little short sometimes but it's a fairly reliable club for me...meaning I can hit it straight most of the time.....3i is probaby the right club distance wise but accuracy with the 3i is another story.

I'm in the lightly swung 3/5 wood category. I hit my 17* wood about 220-230.

Thanks for the wonderful answers. Someone told me to grip down a fairway wood 3 off-the ground (no tee). That might create a higher ball flight and less distance. That might me it... cause I hit 200 yards from the fairway with a 3 wood. I just forget!!!

First of all, I live in Utah, not Australia.

for a par-3 200 yard (even lie or green is higher than tee) i would use a 3 wood but not a full swing. a nice smooth swing. ( i have yet to check my swing speed but for example; if my avg swing speed is 100 i would try to go 75-80)

Hit a 3-iron today to an uphill 208-yard par three with the pin in the front (i.e. 200 yards would have been 4 yards short, but 220 would have still been putting). And, again, uphill.

It's pretty much a stock 4-iron for me, but depending on the location of the flag, the wind, etc. I'll hit anywhere from a 3W to a 6-iron.
