Does this annoy anyone else as well?

All i really meant was it would be better for some people to start off with cheaper equipment and golf balls that are right for their game.  I think people think i am taking it way more seriously than i am haha.

I don't think so. You cared enough to start this thread, which means you care more than you should. And has been said multiple times already ... A lot of the newest, must expensive equipment is made specifically for crappy golfers. So your opinion isn't only asinine, it's, frankly, wrong. ;)

This is yet another I-am-annoyed-by-others thread.   A new thread like this pops up once a week.   I am new to theSandTrap and played along with this type of thread initially.  People should search for old threads on this before opening a new thread.   Not doing so ... annoys me . Stopped being annoyed, and have fun out there. Kirk, out.

I'm the same way......

I don't notice my playing partners equipment unless it's something out of the ordinary....IE....like a 1960's bag with vintage clubs.    this makes me cringe because 97% of the time, they are non-golfers and a slow painful round is coming.

I get curious if they bring something unusual.  But get annoyed?   What for?  Golf is hard enough to get distracted by what others are bringing in their bag.

I'm an experienced dedicated golfer....I know when I am paired with a golfing train-wreck before they hit their first shot.  yes..I dread this.....duh?

Borrowed from the grandparents, no doubt. :-D Seriously, I'm learning with 8 year old blades. That might make you cringe too, except i have some modicum of common sense and would game my I20 or I10s... :-p

I usually start my cringe when I see the practice swing.......LOL

I reserve judgment until we are playing....to see if this person will cause slow play.  I don't care what a person scores...so long as they keep up.  I enjoy playing with all levels of golfers.  Unless you can time them with a sun-dial.

I don't care what other golfers play but I always notice what equipment they play.  I look because I'm interested in equipment and curious to see what others choose to spend their money on.  I agree with Golfingdad, your posts make you appear jealous or envious.

I don't know what basis you have for assuming that cheap equipment and golf balls is right for a beginners game when the cost of equipment has nothing to do with overall skill level.  A $800 set of Mizuno JPX-EZ's will probably help a beginners game a lot more than $100 set of store brand clubs.  In the case of golf balls, if a newbie wants to lose $45 worth of golf balls per round that's his prerogative, why would you care?

I know I don't have the skill level to be playing with ProVs or Callway high balls but its my money and I do get better results.

That's the best reason to use them. :-)

Nah. I play with plenty of people who will use the scrap, broken tees (including me), even if they have to walk 10 yards forward to another set of tees. Even PGA Tour players will do this.

I use the plastic tees and don't like trying to shove 'em all the way into the ground. If I can't find a broken tee pretty quickly, I'll use a wooden tee and break it off. I usually have one of those around (or can find one).

This. The only tees I have, are the long ones for my driver. Why waste those when I'm teeing off with my 3-wood or an iron?

I'm yet to find a hole where I can't find a usable broken one.

Most of the time, I am assuming we're talking about par 3, there's already one in the ground at the right height. Saves time, mostly.

    • 47+49 for a 96. Just lost it today. Two way miss off the tee. Could not hit a decent iron. Three putted like at least 8 holes. Not good when the short game is the best part of the day 😭😭
    • Phillyk is very close by. Ok, I understand how the watch and tags are meant to be used, but I was just curious how it actually works. I can't really think of any other way than what I mentioned above. No worries. If it works it works. I'll probably pick one up. My co-worker mentioned a free app called 18 Birdies which offers similar services. However I personally do not like keeping my phone in my pocket while golfing, nor do I want to be clicking around on the phone while out on the course. I toss my phone in my bag and leave it there until I am done golfing. Tapping a club head to a watch seems wat more convenient.
    • Yes, but not always the case. IMHO, green speeds are a huge variable and can effect score variation from week to week or month to month significantly. Our own course that is running at about 8-9 depending on the week/day, can run up to 12 (no kidding) in peak months around certain event, and most like me score 3-4 shots higher on an average, missing a lot of 3-4 footers. There are any PCC adjustments that I am aware of. Have you every played their course? I am betting $20 you will find some answers if you haven't already.

    • I would recommend spending some time at the range and film your swing. You can post it in the Member Swings thread. At the range, you can figure out how to control the driver a bit more. We can offer some pointers once you post in the Member Swings section.
