Yeah, 11/12 was the weekend I couldn't do. And 18/19 would have been tough too because I have a tournament I'd like to do on the 26th and two Sundays in a row would have been a tough sell. As far as I know (which isn't that far ;)) I'm free on the 5th.

Ok cool.  Yeah either the 18/19 or 4/5 work for me.

Ok well screw y'all. I'm forming the TST Mojave Desert group. Since I'll be the only member, the group will meet when I'm available. (Seriously I'm not available that weekend but my schedule is really tough in Jan so y'all have fun and I'll catch you on the next one.)

Since nobody has objected (other than @k-troop , and he said the entire month was bad) let's call the 4th/5th our weekend. Since we've always done this on a Sunday, I'm assuming this is going down on the 5th. I'll change the thread title to reflect the date.

Now, the question is where are we doing this? Throw out some ideas and then I can make a couple calls to get it set up and figure out if any deposit is needed.

Also, do we want to play the same stableford game or do we want to try something different?

Anyone know any good places in Orange County?  Just throwing out a place

How about doing a scramble?  Quick google search, got this calculator for figuring out the handicaps

A vote a big, fat no on the scramble idea. ;). Whatever format we end up with, I'd like it to also allow me to play my own ball each hole and post a score. I'd also say Goose Creek should definitely be considered. It's out in the direction of Riverside/Corona so at least sort of a middle ground for all, and it's a pretty decent course that's not too pricey either.

I vote Goose Creek. Looks nice.

Goose Creek seems to come up every time we try to figure out a course. I'll give them a call on Monday and see what kind of rates we can get.

Also, I played at Eagle Glen, which is in the same area as Goose Creek and thought that was another solid course. Definitely one I'd go back to.

jan 4th Myself, beachcomber and Golfswine have a match in the league we play in so if the date of the outing is the next day i am afraid I wont make it (dont want to speak for the other guys but i imagine it would be hard for them as well)

19th is a better choice for me.  Goose creek is a nice course.  watch out for those poanna greens!

I don't know about anybody else, but I'd rather not loose an entire foursome by having it on a particular date. If the fifth is bad for @Pakoh , @Beachcomber and @GolfSwine (and we already know it's bad for @k-troop ), then maybe we should find another date. I know k-troop said that pretty much the entire month was bad for him and others of us had problems with some of the other weekends in January so maybe the second weekend (11th/12th) of February would work (I'd say the first weekend but that'd be the Superbowl, which while I don't really care, some might).

What do you all think?

Agreed.

We could even put out a survey style thread to check when is best for everyone.

I can't make any commitment at this time.

New baby will be here. Plus I have a trip to Taiwan pending in Jan before the Chinese New Year.

The first quarter of 2014 is going to be real crazy schedule wise.

I haven't posted in a month... But this still stands for me.

Unfortunately, at this point in time, the last person you should select dates based on availability would be using my voice in this thread...  I'm gonna be flying by the seat of my pants if I can even make the next event or not.  Most likely, I won't know until the week of - or even a few days before (or after!?)?

Do it the third weekend in February and I can probably come out. I have things going on during the Super Bowl and the week after that (Ice Bowl).

I believe I came to the February one last year.

Works for me… That would be the weekend of the 15th/16th. Any objections from anybody.

I'm out that weekend. I can do 2 Feb or 8-9 February. Other than that my February is booked. But I'm in GD's boat--I only have like 7 available weekend days between New Years and the 2nd week of March.

1st Saturday every month is league matches. Other than that I'm flexible.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
