I searched for a long time and never found any good books, which is why I took the AimPoint Class.

http://www.aimpointgolf.com/instruction.html

I highly recommend it.  My reads are very good now.

Any tips that can be shared here?

Yeah, save up and take the course.  Best information on putting that there is.

Outside of swing lessons, aimpoint is the best money I've spent on golf. Sorry but I don't have anything else to add--nothing else has ever helped me read greens.

Nope. There's plenty on this site about the AimPoint method, and I think everyone who's taken an AimPoint lesson has enough respect for Sweeney and the rest of the AimPoint instructors not to just give away the important parts. Take a lesson.

So... No

Even if I could I would not, because it is not the right thing to do.  Besides that, only taking the full course will give the information needed to read greens properly.  The information does not work in pieces.

Take a lesson.

Not trying to disrespect Sweeney - whoever that is.  Not trying to steal AimPoint from anyone.  Just seeing if anyone had any green-reading tips.  Sorry to offend.

There are several short game and/or putting books that include tips on green reading.   Check out Dave Pelz's "Putting Bible" or Stan Utley's "The Art of Putting". Also, Jeff Mangum"s Putting Zone website includes a ton of free putting information, including green reading.

I don't understand why AimPoint information is so sacred that people are reluctant to talk about it, except to say "Take the Class".  Although I haven't taken the class, I know enough about it that I think it would be worthwhile to take, but it does sound kind of like Fight Club. AND WE ALL KNOW THE FIRST RULE OF FIGHT CLUB.

Because why would you give away something for free that you paid a decent amount of money for, and also people make part of their living off teaching it?  It is not ethical with regard to those people.  It is also a huge competitive advantage, why should we?

I don't think anyone is offended.  No worries.

If you cannot take a class, the best thing you can do is just try and find the low side of the green and make a guess.

I too am riding on the AimPoint train and loving the reduction in shots since taking the course. Regarding the reason why I personally won't be sharing information it's a combination of basically preventing the AimPoint instructors from making money teaching people and also because frankly I had to pay to learn it so why should other people get the info for free?

Green reading "tips" are often just points people have noticed while putting which works for *them* but not necessarily anyone else so personally I wouldn't put a whole lot of weight behind them.

For books on putting see Harmonious's reply.

Also maybe look at a lesson with a local pro (or in my case I sought out a specific Lynn Blake Certified pro to teach me a specific style of putting which is working wonders)

@Harmonious ,

I am a big fan of Stan Ultey's books and methods. But I still found the green reading tips a bit vague. @owens251109 , it was around $200 dollars for me, but it was well worth it.  There is a thread in the Instruction section on AimPoint that is worth checking out.

haha, it does seem like that, but really it just can't be boiled down that easily into a thread like this.  I think it requires actually being shown.

It looks like you're just across the river from Cincinnati?  There's a guy 40 minutes north--in Fairfield, OH.  Also a guy in Bowling Green, KY.
