Bit of a racist perhaps.

Ah, there it, the copout, shut down accusation being used with such effectiveness in these past 6 years. I despise it and you're weak for having thrown it out there.

I said perhaps.-Not weak if its true. Youre new here so you have not had to deal with Ricky Bobbys constant Tiger Haterade. WHen confronted with Tommys infidelity he ignores it, but cares a whole lot about Tigers. YOu explain it.[quote name="Gunther" url="/t/73117/patrick-reed-is-he-arrogant/270#post_978011"] Ah, there it, the copout, shut down accusation being used with such effectiveness in these past 6 years. Ever heard of Luke Donald?? Or Lee Westwood??

Not that I agree with Rick, but there was a lot of banter when Donald was #1 about how he wasn't really deserving of the slot given he'd never won a Major.

Reed has plenty of years to win a major, I don't think anyone expects him to win one this year except for maybe himself.

Right, but those people can't have it both ways.  If they're going to criticize Reed for calling himself Top 5 and use the fact that the OWGR says otherwise as part of the reason why he's wrong (some here have) then they can't turn around and throw the OWGR out the window and say its wrong when it doesn't fit their own bastardized definition.  Know what I mean?

Sure do, #1 OWGR doesn't require a Major win.  No one knows with certainty how Reed meant Top 5, if it was OWGR, overall, PGA Tour, etc. @Rick Martin probably doesn't like Reed because he is a Tiger fan and wears black and red on Sundays.

I'm not sure that any player this side of the implementation of cameras, microphones and reporters not burying stories can meet @Rick Martin 's standards for very long.

only reason why i think he isn't arrogant. is because at that level you have to believe that in order to achieve top 5 status. personally i dont think he is top 5 but he has the right mental attitude

If Reed had just said "can be" instead of "am", he would have been praised for his self confidence.  I think he will learn.

Well said, I prefer to think I'm Top 5 and have someone tell me I am rather than have to declare it myself.

If Reed would have said "can be" there would have been no story and he'd have saved himself some grief but he also wouldn't be as well known as he is today.

The irony is that that is probably what he meant to say, and it came out as "am" during the interview. It's tough being a public figure.

I thought this, he may have even meant to say, he feels like he's playing like a top 5 player, which wouldn't be a bad thing to say either.

It's tough speaking on camera, especially for a young guy who hasn't done it that many times, he probably just wasn't thinking straight because of nerves/adrenalin/happiness etc.

You always realise how good presenters etc. are on camera, when you see someone from the public get interviewed, and they come across as a complete brainless moron, I see it all the time in the UK with football fans.

This is exactly what I've thought all along as well.

    • Day 3:  I tried to hit a bucket at the range but an 80 year old man (he told me his age, showed me his knee replacement scars, told me all about his chronic low back pain, etc) couldn’t pass up the opportunity to mansplain to me every little thing I’m doing wrong.  Dude, it’s my third frickin day.  I know I need to twist my hips more, I know I need to keep my head/chest down and not pop up, I know I need to hit through the ball and follow through further, yada yada yada.  I know.  That’s exactly what I’m trying to work on.  How about you tell me or show me how to do those things instead of telling me to watch Iron Byron videos?  Rough day.
    • Day 132: 5/7/24 Full Speed Spectrum Training session 8/24. 7th training program overall.    Another slow session but 4 mph faster than my last session, which was my slowest ever. Going to the doctor on Friday to check on pulled neck muscle.
    • Day 26: Did full swing practice after work. First 15 balls were working on top of the backswing feel, and then tried to incorporate transition feel into the next 15 balls. A's, although this will be my last season of being a fan as they leave for Las Vegas (by way of Sacramento for a few seasons). Hard to see myself rooting for the Giants, but if that's the only MLB in the Bay Area, I guess I might get on board.
    • My two cents? Don't. As a beginner that's interested in learning about the golf swing, you'll find yourself consuming a lot of information, most of which isn't even relevant to your own swing. You need to learn you can't think your way to a good golf swing. Focus on the one thing that you're working on and doing that on every swing, come what may. And remember, mishits happen.
    • Day 6 (7 May 24) - More work in the backyard focused on tempo in addition to setup.  Worked with 6 and 7 irons hitting hard foam balls - used the old MacGregor irons to mix it up a little.
