Noticed the fairways and front of greens was pretty wet - and today we received a downpour that flood parts of the downtown Tampa area (about 10-15 miles south of Copperhead course) - so I think the course will play extra long without any roll whatsoever.  The rough around the greens, fairways is relatively long - will  be penalizing.  Greens didn't look fast - very green, plush.  Course isn't typical for Florida -  very hilly with undulating greens.  Weather clearing this evering, but will be breezy and cooler for FLA standards (high 60s) - very sunny later in the week, so it should dry out (along w/ the breeze/wind).

Surprised to see Padraig again. He's played here in the past. Also surprised to see Casey, Clarke.  I think many of them are using the event to "practice" and don't enter w/ high expectations.

I literally live 2 miles from Innisbrook. Going to be going to the tournament over the weekend. Looking forward to it. Usually I volunteer but this year I'm just going as a spectator.

Expect really high scores tomorrow. The weather forecast is a high of 58 degrees, low of 46, with 20mph winds. It's going to be a little bit like last Friday at Doral, just a little bit cooler. Had a lot of rain today but it's starting to dry out now. It's been an usually cold winter here so I wouldn't expect much rough. Weather looks beautiful over the weekend, though. Supposed to hit 70 Saturday and Sunday.

No rain tomorrow. The front has already gone through. Supposed to be nice the next three days, albeit windy and chilly tomorrow. Any score in the 60s will be a great score. Copperhead's a challenge even in calm conditions.

From the scores I'm seeing today, the course must be playing pretty tough. 2 more hours and I can finally check out the tourney on Golf Channel.

I really want Gary Woodland to do well. He seems like a cool guy and, of course, he hits the ball ridiculously far.

I thought that article was going to be about Long John's rookie season. So... this is his 16th time carding a double digit on a single hole on tour. I wonder if that's a record.

    • Day 3:  I tried to hit a bucket at the range but an 80 year old man (he told me his age, showed me his knee replacement scars, told me all about his chronic low back pain, etc) couldn’t pass up the opportunity to mansplain to me every little thing I’m doing wrong.  Dude, it’s my third frickin day.  I know I need to twist my hips more, I know I need to keep my head/chest down and not pop up, I know I need to hit through the ball and follow through further, yada yada yada.  I know.  That’s exactly what I’m trying to work on.  How about you tell me or show me how to do those things instead of telling me to watch Iron Byron videos?  Rough day.
    • Day 132: 5/7/24 Full Speed Spectrum Training session 8/24. 7th training program overall.    Another slow session but 4 mph faster than my last session, which was my slowest ever. Going to the doctor on Friday to check on pulled neck muscle.
    • Day 26: Did full swing practice after work. First 15 balls were working on top of the backswing feel, and then tried to incorporate transition feel into the next 15 balls. A's, although this will be my last season of being a fan as they leave for Las Vegas (by way of Sacramento for a few seasons). Hard to see myself rooting for the Giants, but if that's the only MLB in the Bay Area, I guess I might get on board.
    • My two cents? Don't. As a beginner that's interested in learning about the golf swing, you'll find yourself consuming a lot of information, most of which isn't even relevant to your own swing. You need to learn you can't think your way to a good golf swing. Focus on the one thing that you're working on and doing that on every swing, come what may. And remember, mishits happen.
    • Day 6 (7 May 24) - More work in the backyard focused on tempo in addition to setup.  Worked with 6 and 7 irons hitting hard foam balls - used the old MacGregor irons to mix it up a little.
