Dempsey alone could have had goals 2 and 3, but then again, Belgium could have scored 8.

Timmy today was the equivelent of a pitcher taking a perfect game into extra innings, getting no help. On another note, Michael Ballack bothers me, he's super negative on the US & looks down on them, it seems

Benefits of an English goalkeeping coach (Chris Woods) same way that the US has to wheel in an English yachtsman to skipper the Americas Cup fightback (Ben Ainsle)

OK so I'm clutching at straws!!!

I wonder what Yedlins golf handicap is. I think he could be a credible wildcard selection ahead of Mickelson on that showing. Come to think of it, I reckon I'd invite a few of them along if I were Tom.

Brad Guzan on board! I dunno if that's such a good idea http://screamer.deadspin.com/watch-usmnt-fail-miserably-on-the-island-hole-at-tpc-sa-1590978252

Costa Rica!

Ok... Who do we root for next?

Anyone against Argentina

Followed by Holland as my selection.

The Costa's carry the romantic vote, but the tournament would be devalued if they won (albeit you might argue that a win for Costa Rica is the best possible result imaginable too)

Strangely enough, I don't think we actually hate the Germans. It's much closer to a rivalry, albeit it would be disingenuous not to acknowledge that it goes well beyond football.

The Argentinians are a nasty bunch by contrast (the Germans aren't nasty), albeit this Argentinian team aren't far off being the cleanest they've fielded in my memory. Nonetheless, they've still earned more yellow cards in world cup history than any other single team.

The problem with the French, or as our Foreign Secretary described them "the cheese eating surrender monkeys"... well where do you start actually? The French are a seriously annoying set of supporters. For 95% of the time they make out they aren't interested, especially when they're doing badly. They're actually one of the least passionate football nations in Europe. They are the ultimate fickle, fair weather, johnny come lately supporters. Then they mysteriously come wriggling out of the woodwork the moment they start winning. Actually it's worse than that. It's when they've won. Nah can't support the French. We might invoke history against the Jarmans, but that's 20th century only. For centuries its the French who've been a bigger pain

If Belgium beat the Argies are they on a collision cause with Holland? Now that would get lively!!!

Brazil are too obvious to support. can't dislike Brazil, but this isn't a great Brazilian team

I'll probably switch to the Dutch, they deserve it after giving so much to the game (2010 apart when they were an uncharacteristic disgrace)

I hate the Germans. That is fact. Not a big fan of German golfers either, Langer is okay I suppose

Agree on the French, can't support them.. Brazil?? I guess they are a tough bunch to hate for sure, but you just become another fair weather know nothing about soccer fan... Man picking a team to root for is getting slim these days..

What's the situation with this Wondo miss?

BBC clearly said he was flagged for offside. Others are suggesting he wasn't

I've certainly seen incidences before of a linesman flagging, realising his mistake, and then putting his flag down. This can create chaos of course. But if this was the sequence, then poor old Wondo has just had one of those moments. Football is littered with them, and they'll be others before this tournament is out

Holland. Losing to the eventual winners takes the sting out of the loss.

DAAAMMMIIITTTTTTT!! I'm so pissed right now. They played like crap for about 100 minutes. Then all sudden they start playing great and getting chances. They almost tied that sucker up again, that penalty kick was awesome and should have went in.

Our goalie saved our ass all day long, what was it like 15 saves or some crazy number. Howard is simply fantastic.

Entertaining game, just result was bad. Oh well we'll win the entire cup in 4 years.

And whoever says Americans are not football fans need to get their pulses checked. I've never seen this before the support for USA was awesome this year. We're proud of our team.

Im heartbroken as well... shit ! Team usa was supposed to be the real deal.... Well I'm still gonna celebrate my birthday today so I cant be all negative today with friends and family! Wasnt the American declaration of independence written on the 2nd of july, and only voted for on the 4th... Darn it I was two days away from having an awesome birthday date! An entire country celebrating my birthday! Well in two days, I hope ya all americans can find the strength to move on after the soccer defeat. George washington himself suffered setbacks and defeats in the war but america was able to pull through. Hopefully America can come back in soccer as well... that is all.

Ya I know. I'm not have a very good sports teams year. First it was the Broncos in the awefull Superbowl loss. Then it was the Avalanche, now its the US Soccer team.

Geeeeezus, every time I get all pumped up, emotionally invested, and BAM!, ends badly. Not a good feeling.

    • Day 105: mirror work today. Focused on not looping my hands at the top of the swing. Straight down.
    • Still working on the backswing a bit. Hand still gets away from the body, out towards the ball, and at A2 the club wants to roll over and get flat at A3. It's just very difficult to shallow from that position like I want. Which makes my downswing work impossible.  Backswing I have been playing around with the left leg straightening to start the backswing. It's like, a slight shove of the hips right with the left leg. Then just keep the flex in the right knee as I turn into it. I kind of like it. I never had a good swing trigger. It helps keep my left knee extended.  Yea, definitely feeling the hand path is traveling down the feet line, and straight up. A little bit of wrist rotation, and a lot more hinge sooner in the right wrist and elbow. I am trying to get the feeling that the arm hinging up then is the cause for the right shoulder to retract to finish the backswing. Club feels much more vertical at A3. I am trying to have my wrist fully hinged by then.  Feel the club and arms stop at A3.5 (my A4). If my arm collapses late, then I turn into that and I am pretty much screwed. The club and arms kind of have a floaty feeling, where they are just suspended in air for a bit, then drop.  Downswing I have been trying to think of a good visual for this mentally. I like the idea of my hands taking a wide arc to my right pocket, or I am taking the back of the hosel and trying to hit the ground behind my right foot.    Left knee stuff, just sooner.
    • Day 78 - 2026-03-10 Backswing work at the net with foam balls, a few real ball swings.
    • Day 525 - 2026-03-10 Got some work in before lessons today (was going to play after but it decided to POUR). Then like three minutes in later on.
    • Day 2 (10 Mar 26) - Worked on weight shift feel using slap stick drill (hands about 6” apart - coming back weight on trail foot - down - thru weight on lead foot….moved it to hitting chips w/9i playing what I call “leap frog” - hit 1st about 10yds, the next a couple past the 1st, for about 6 balls total.  Love it as the lies change, the distances vary making each swing slightly different.
