It was downwind and downhill.  I don't think you need 125-130 club speed to hit it that far in those conditions.  That bunker is probably closer to 310-315.  I am not saying I am the longest guy out, because I am not.  However, I have and do hit it 300 + often.  Not internet 300 + but the actual thing.  I have a Flightscope and I have had  unlimited access to a Trackman for the last 3 years.  I know my numbers and I know what I have seen actually happen.

Bunker was 300 that day. The tees were near the front of that long tee box Sunday. It plays about 10 yards down hill. So it probably only takes a 290 yard drive to reach those bunkers.

We went from back of the tees, bunker at 280-290. Now its front of the tees, 300.  I think its safe to say that we are not really sure what the bunker was playing at that day.  I also do not know where my ball went in the hazard.  I think its far shorter on the right side vs. the middle or left.

I can honestly say that I pulled Jeremie's ball out of the hazard.  <1 foot past the red stakes.  My ball was 5-7 yards right of his ball but still tracking in the fairway. It was tracking at the bridge basically.   My ball was no where to be found.  Golf Balls do not disappear no matter how hard we hit them without going in a hazard or something.

In all honesty I probably should have played a lost ball and went back to the tee.  My score did not count so no harm done to the integrity of the game

I honestly thought it was in the fairway and I had no reason to question that it did not roll into the big creek, albeit to the right side which is shorter. Also not hard to imagine that the ball ran like Forest Gump without braces downhill - ground was not that soft. I saw your hits all day and this one was hit better than even the one on 5. I was thoroughly impressed. Would love to see you driving your stock draw that I guess we didn't get to see on Sunday.

Not front tees, were the blue tees were actually at on that hole. I remember those tees being at the front end of that tee box because we parked at the back and walked up there.

My ball was 5-7 yards right of his ball but still tracking in the fairway. It was tracking at the bridge basically.   My ball was no where to be found.  Golf Balls do not disappear no matter how hard we hit them without going in a hazard or something.

Bridge sits about 15-20 yards right of the fairway, spanning the hazard.

Sure they do. I lost a golf ball in the middle of a wide open area before. Not heavy rough, no ball to be found. The area was well with in the upper and lower ends of my driving capability, and I saw the ball bounce. No ball to be found. ITS GOLF IT HAPPENS!! If you were tracking towards the bride, maybe you hit the cart path or ended up in that tree bush stuff just right of the bunker. If you hit on the right side of the bunker it could of kicked right. It was hard to tell on that hole because the landing area is obscured a bit due to the fairway starting to fall away from the golfer.

In all honesty I probably should have played a lost ball and went back to the tee.  My score did not count so no harm done to the integrity of the game

No on was claiming you were. If you thought you cleared that bunker at 320 carry and had it kick into the hazard, then that is your call. You know your game, but the measurement above is accurate.

You absolutely are, if not in exact words. I understand the skepticism but to not have actually seen it in person, you are also questioning the integrity of others who saw it and support it.

You know, this whole thing has taken an unhealthy turn for what was personally the best outing I have had in a long time. My apologies for tossing up the subject to all.

I wasn't trying to disprove anything. You guys found the golf balls, so the drives did go that far. I was just showing how far it was to that bunker on the right.

Sorry if I came off that way. Wasn't my intention.

As for hitting a provisional, if @Rob Thompson thought his ball was in play then that is his call. If I was in his shoes, and my ball was tracking towards the right side of the fairway, I would not hit a provisional.

I thought he was referring to the 381 yarder lol

I was referring to that measurement Erik posted. Given the tees were near the front of that tee box.

Matt, no worries, but we knew how far the right bunker was if not exactly (300+). The dude probably doesn't swing 125+ every time but if my armchair calibration is close, it is every bit of 115+. I don't think it is unreasonable at all to carry it on a downhill hole and roll all the way home to the BIG hazard. It was not like he just claimed it and we were all muttering BS under our breath. All in all this was a fun hole for our group for sure. I would love to have the group again but ironically and hopefully with a better (straighter) driving day.

Yea I mentioned that, the image above shows the start of the bunker is 300 yards from the tee position that day. Take off about 10 yards because it is downhill. Unless it is VERY downhill, usually you can add 1 yard for each yard you are going down hill. Drivers usually impact around 45 degrees.

That bunker is about 20 yards long. So you are looking at 310 yard to carry that bunker.

If you got optimal launch conditions (172 ball speed, 17 degrees of launch with 1700 rpm, assuming around 1.48 smash factor) you need 117 mph clubhead speed. That is doable.

    • Day  3 (4 May 24) - Easy pitch day with 9i in the backyard.  Worked on staying smooth thru impact, keeping shots to 20yds or less.
    • From what I’ve read, it was in the manufacturing process and how the covers were nicking pretty easy.  He has had to resource his factory as the one used earlier is now a TM owned facility.  Initial reports seem to indicate the redesign is going to be a winner…
    • Day 129: 5/4/24 Stack training but could not certify my warmup speed. Dealing with a pulled neck muscle. Chips and pitches at a local course for about 15 minutes.
    • Typically less than 50. I find this can be affected by the "CART" signs on a given course. I don't like taking my rangefinder out of the cart and carrying it around to the green. I am very fearful I will leave it somewhere.
    • First ever holed out greenside bunker shot! It's crazy it took this long to finally get one during a round, but the cold streak is officially over. Hole 6 on the Palmer Course at PGAN. I hit my driver like 225 into a really stiff wind, then worm burned a hybrid into the bunker. I was about I dunno, 40-45 feet away. Birdie! Let's go! The red Xs the approximate location of each shot.  Really fun!!
