Wow. That may have been one of the most entertaining rounds of golf I've ever watched!

Agreed. I liked the Day/McIlroy pairing and wished Jason sank some of his many near misses to make the final group.

Very entertaining.

Rory is going to extremely tough to beat tomorrow. You get the feeling he probably played his worst round and yet he still shot 67. That's what Tiger used to. Tiger's worst round of the week was still most times still better than most anyone else's.

If Rory McIlroy is "new Tiger" than I think I am going to take a 20 year hiatus and start watching cricket.

Really? I love watching him. He's got tons of game and reminds me a lot of Tiger in his prime. Love his swing as well.

I'm with you. The game is better with a superstar. McIlroy could end up as one of the all time greats.

Just marvel at Rors' driving... uncanny.

How long can he take this driving streak at such high speed?

Phenomenal.

Something about him just rubs me the damn wrong way lol. Maybe I just don't want a short guy with curly hair being the best golfer in the world. Hahah jk jk. Then again I do like Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk, John Daly, and Vijay Singh :-P

I just think the game thrives having a dominant player. And if it's Rory, it's Rory. At the very least I find him exciting to watch. He takes chances which I like. He goes for the gusto. That's why Phil is one of my favorites. To steal a quote from Tin Cup, "he goes for it."

As a spectator spectacle it just proves to me what I've always known, competition is the key to any sport. If it's competitive it becomes compelling, and the Tigeristas will either adapt or new followers will emerge.

It sounds listening to you lot though as if the PGA need to do some major work on the number of adverts that the broadcaster permits when they next sell the rights, and not to simply sell to the highest bidder. If you make any product unappealling to watch by continually disrupting the feed and killing the anticipation, you devalue it. Luckily we have legislation in place that governs the duration and frequency, even for commercial stations

Anyway, it looks like we might get a spectacle at last

Then again I also dislike Mickelson, Scott, and Spieth. Maybe I just dislike good golfers. i wanna see CRAP golf dammit! :-D

After today's theatrics, the only thing missing was a healthy Tiger Woods.

Can you imagine today with a healthy and in playing shape Tiger driving a straightish ball...

Yes, I know ... if ifs and buts were candy and nuts...

The last time we entered a major week with a clear favorite, and then that guy went on to win the tournament handily, his name was Tiger. Rory's play is something else right now. Anyone's fantasy league going to put Rory rules in effect?

You wonder where this game from Weisberger is coming from. Outside of a couple 2nd place finishes in small Euro Tour events, he's not exactly been lighting it up:

To show you how rare it is, the last player not named Tiger Woods to win a major as the #1 player in the world was Fred Couples in 1992.

I missed Jason Day's par on the from nine from the swamp. Just saw recap. Holy crap!! Feherty found the ball (he was the only one slogging thru the high wet grass or it'd be lost ball), and gave Day the lift up the bank of the creek, barefoot and pants rolled up. The caddie throws the right club across the water to Day who then slogs a shot from the wet mess toward the green but again in the rough. Up and down from there. Simple!

    • They sure do. 158 with an 8 iron is on the high end for me
    • Went back to controlling my knees. That part was getting a bit sloppy when I worked on my backswing. Right hip didn't slide or gain internal rotation. I would just rotate back and around and the left knee would be in a bad spot. Really focusing now on keeping my left knee very stable and straighter in the backswing. I can't go back to the old pattern of overturning the hips. I was returning to my old pattern to time my downswing. Turn forever.  Left knee controls both knees and hips, acting as an anchor. Feel like it straightens a bit.   Hinge sooner and faster. Not in a way that sends the hands out and flips the club over. I still noticed when the hands get to A2.5, the hands would want to flip over and flatten the club out a ton.  Still trying to figure out how to roll the forearms a bit open and not just roll the club inside a ton.  Figure out the timing to get the hands down. Still getting a bit of right elbow collapsing in the downswing because the arms are too high when I turn. Everything is happening sooner now. If the hips are controlled, the backswing is shortened. Because it is shortened I don't know when to get the hands down and I just turn because the downswing is a go.  Very slow (50%) swings are decent.
