"It's getting late early." Yogi Berra

The U.S. side is up against again. Many a Ryder Cup the EUROS  just take an early lead after Day 1 and put on unrelenting pressure.

Furyk/Mahan, Watson/Kuchar have to find a way to scratch out halves or else the singles climb tomorrow will be Everest like.

Technically, Furyk/Mahan are still very much in their match, but it's hard to see the breaks going their way, although Sergio's starting to play head games with himself.

I just don't see all 3 matches turning into the US favor. Would be great if it did, but likely it won't. If we could get a win from Spieth/Reed and turn one of those deficits into a half, that would be great. Of course, 9-7 is still a tough deficit tomorrow. You would need 7.5/12 points to win back the Cup. THat's a lot against a European team that is very talented.

Thank Goodness Stenson is sitting out this afternoon because Kaymer is bringing Rose back down to earth. Kaymer is missing putts left and right.

Pfff, flight Kaymer/Rose is missing a lot of chances. Maybe it's an advantage Spieth/Reed didn't see last few holes the whole weekend :-P

As a standalone, made-for-tv event, this event is okay. But it's a blip on the radar in the career of a player.  Just IMHO.

For Tiger, I would agree. But for the rest of these guys I think it's pretty important. However I think any one of them would exchange a Ryder Cup for a major.

This Westwood match is killing us. Now you're asking for Spieth/Reed to hang on and need Furyk/Mahan to make up ground on Rory/Sergio. That's tough.

I'd be willing to say that this weekend is doing wonders on people's opinion of Patrick Reed, for one.

Whether there's a reasonable chance to win rests on Furyk/Mahan now and that assumes Spieth/Reed hang-on which is no gimme yet. This could get ugly for the U.S. side in an eye-blink.
