Ah, but the people to whom you refer don't consider that to be ridiculous behavior......

Not professional behavior from an anchor. It's almost as if she considered the Palin family a joke ...

But here is a Fox anchor attempting to repeatedly bait George Zimmerman's brother to go after President Obama. He doesn't take the bait, but she keeps on trying. Seriously?

More ... Business anchor interjects his conclusions, disses economic lack of growth during a great recession and gosh knows what other  events are taken out of context or stating facts in a biased manner to fit his political leanings.

More unprofessional behavior with bashing and bias... the guest looks like the professional anchor. Fox's MO seems to be -- we will lead you to what we want you to say, and if you don't, we will interject our opinions while bashing you... not talking about the opinions, but the behavior.

It's getting hot in here .... at least we don't have to listen... have no idea of the backstory. Shirt was so tight it ripped open? It's one way of making business entertaining...

No he didn't. But the "Presidential" comments to which she was referring were ludicrous and wholly inappropriate. Given the ability of the President to potentially, inadvertently influence the mindset of the jury pool, it was certainly genuinely newsworthy. It's also worth noting that while you may not care for her questions, she was completely calm and professional in asking them. She definitely kept pushing long after it was clear that he wasn't going there though..... I figured @MS256 's question would keep you busy for a couple of hours. ;-)

Why did you go on about the presidential comments when we are discussing anchor behavior? Focus, man, focus! :-D Her baiting is, c'mon, a method to bash ... not cool.

It took about 30 seconds to find Fox Lunacy -- what took time was the immense selection of lunacy.

Hey, tried to avoid politics, which is why I did not pick on Stuart (?) Varney even more ...As to the Palins, I won't say anything, Same w/ Pres O, let's not go there. Focusing on anchor behavior...

I guess @David in FL had a good point if you think those two examples are even close to equal. We see the world through completely different lenses.

A gap between the far left and the far right has always been there but fortunately most people were in the middle and far from either side. Individuals voted for JFK, Jimmy Carter,  Ronald Reagan and George Bush and never thought they had changed their views.

Today are more like two sides with the gap (that seems to be getting wider) in the middle.

I can't comment on the clips from Fox Business because I have never watched it and don't know the objectives or formats. I figured it was a business opinion/entertainment channel.

We're talking news, right? and professionalism, right?

One is making light of a family that has frankly, put themselves in the news. I don't think the Palin thing was news but in the age of newsatainment, they put it on the air.

The other is trying to repeatedly provoke a bashthePresident fest.

While I feel badly for the Palins, the expletives were amusing.

What Fox was doing was its usual bashfest.

Which one is trying to provoke more damage?

Like I said we see the world entirely differently and would likely never agree on much of anything political. I don't see a "bashfest" there at all.

The funny part is that I would guess that you are considered fairly centrist among the left wing community and I know for a fact that I am considered left of center among my right wing friends...and yet you and I are still miles apart.

Heck I refuse to watch Shawn Hannity because I think he wouldn't give President Obama credit if he saved an old lady from getting hit by a car, but he is "can't miss TV" and a hero among my friends.

My thinking has evolved on politics since 2012 ... should have re-thought it years ago.

It's not worth the effort.

I know what the Fox anchor is doing ... she's an attorney. She is trying to manipulate the interviewee and get him to say what she wants ... haven't we had enough of this crap?

It's not as if I'm liberal, whatever that is ... it's different for everyone ... I consider myself  open minded. Heck, I've got an MBA, and was a CPA before I was an attorney ... those are conservative credentials, whatever conservative is... I just put away the doctrine and believe in being practical to an extent... For example, extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures -- case in point -- the great recession. Had to let go of conservative ideas and endorse the spending measures. Why? It was either spend to stimulate or wait a very long time for confidence and business to recover. Look at Europe -- still suffering and trying to bring us down. They went with austerity ... not working. Of course, once you get the economy going, then spending must go down and/or revenues must increase...

Government takes cooperation among people who don't always agree. But if one way is not working, why not try another way?

Both sides have good people ... this Party crap ... is crap. And it is bringing us down.

As to Bristol Palin ... I don't think anything less of her for cussing like a sailor. So what's the big deal? It was amusing. She sounds like me on a bad day. Can't fault her for that. We're not perfect.

Comments deleted and @Mr. Desmond and @Phil McGleno have been restricted from the thread. I will share one of Phil's on-topic points: the "shirt ripped open" image (which isn't actually a video) above is simply an altered photo. It's Photoshopped. That's why there's no actual video of her ripping her shirt open. Seems pretty common sense to me that if it had actually happened, there would be video of her doing it. The bar for "restrict from thread" is usually pretty high, but is lower in the Grill Room as it's the off-topic section of the forum. Carry on, but bear in mind: we're here because we are passionate about golf. If you find yourself disliking a fellow member because of their political views, I suggest you spend more time outside the Grill Room section of the site. Thank you.

Agreed! It wasn't long ago that Newt Gingrich and Bill Clinton were able to work together to get a balanced budget. Where has true compromise gone in today's Congress?

Yeah.

All so called "news" channels are bias, some more blatant than others.

But at least Fox News gives the other side a fighting chance to make an arguement.

I would say that depends on the show. Some are more interruptive, while others are more accommodating towards those who come on the show.

If I ever meet a liberal I'm going to ask them why they feel like everybody on the planet deserves sympathy and a voice (no matter what crimes and atrocities they have committed) but want to shut up any voice that disagrees with them???

Unless of course if they are afraid of a group. Then it's crickets.

    • I have been debating getting a launch monitor of some sort, if only so I can re-figure my shot zones (I haven't actually mapped them in years) and also to practice distance wedges at home.  I have to see if this works with either my current setup, or what my setup would be if I move it to the garage.
    • Day 48, June 23.  After work today, I took 25 minutes in my practice room;  6-iron, same everything as yesterday except the time and count.
    • Well, this is interesting.  I think we discovered a few months ago that I haven't been following professional golf in a while (my confusion about Scotty's footwork confirmed that), so at least as I aim to follow a bit more I'll get something new to learn with all of you.  My very quick read of Erik's summary makes me think this new Challenger series fits somewhere between Korn Ferry and the Championship (not Champions, but I know I'm going to make that mistake a few times if I'm not careful!).   My recollection is that there were already second-tier events among the PGA Tour;  the Bob Hope didn't have the same quality of field as the event at Riviera (whose current name I forget, although now that I say that, I realize the Palm Springs event hasn't been called the Bob Hope in a few years either).   With the absence of the FedEx (if I'm reading that correctly), does that mean no more FedEx Cup at all? Hopefully I'll have time later in 2026 to sit down and see what we're in for in 2027, where one of my goals already is to follow more professional golf.
    • The highlights as I see them: Championship and Challenger Series The creation of the PGA Tour and the PGB Tour, in the words of Joel Dahmen a few years ago. They're calling them the Championship Series (23-24 events) and the Challenger Series (20+ events). Both run February to August. They feel this will achieve three things: increasing the consistency and quality of fields across the season creating a clear system for players to earn and retain status and delivering a more structured and competitive experience for fans and partners—all in an effort to strengthen meritocracy. Championship Series Structure and Eligibility The 23-24 events includes the Players, majors, season-ending events, and the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup. These will be 72-hole events with a 36-hole cut to the top 65 and ties and purses of $20M+. 120 players without an alternate list. 90 players (roughly) from the previous year and 20 players promoted from the Challenger Series. Full eligibility will be finalized later this year. Sites (cities) to be finalized soon, but 10 of the 15 courses have already been determined. Postseason: includes retention and relegation and concludes with match play. The Tour Championship will also be played across a rotation of prestigious courses. Challenger Series Structure and Eligibility 20+ events. Running concurrently. Will feature players fighting their way back to the Championship Series or players graduating and on the upswing from the Korn Ferry Tour. Many of these events will be current PGA Tour courses. About 7 of the Challenger Series events will be during off weeks for the Championship Series with elevated purses and visibility. Purses of at least $4M, with cuts similar to the Champ series. 144 player fields. Competitive Fields for Both Series Players will be eligible for only one series at a time: Championship Series Players are not eligible for Challenger Series events. Championship Series members will have a known schedule with all events having the same eligibility. Players and Majors will have their own eligibility criteria. Championship Series players don't have to play all events. This begs the question about, say, the Canadian Open, and other "home-town" events that players might want to play, even if they're Challenger Series events. Will releases be granted? Promotion and Relegation At least 90 players will be retained in the Championship Series, and 20 players will be promoted from the Challenger Series each year. Battlefield promotion for two-time winners from the Challenger Series. Players relegated from the Championship Series will have a "last chance" opportunity to retain status, or will go to the Challenger Series. Criteria will be finalized before the start of the 2027 season. Points System New points system (not FedExCup points). Separate points systems for the Championship and Challenger Series. Elevated points in the Challenger Series for off-weeks on the Championship Series. More details tk. Elevated International Events in the Fall The fall schedule will include a limited series of elevated international events with top players from the Championship Series, with the intent to deliver in partnership with the DP World Tour as part of the Strategic Alliance. Last Chance Series The Tour will develop a “last chance” series of 4-6 events in the fall, with a limited number of spots on the Championship Series available for top finishers. Eligibility will include players relegated from the Championship Series, Challenger Series players, and other categories to be determined. Q-School continues, as do the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Latinoamerica. Also, Brian Rolapp is the new commissioner as of January 1, 2027.
