Two notes:

  • Right elbow can come off your body more.

So last weekend round I tried to get elbow away from me, but I think I was unconsciously stretching arm out at address to do this and prolly locking elbow out, doing the wide-narrow (collapse at A4) -wide sequence instead of the other way around.

Anyway, consciously made sure to have elbows unlocked at address today. Felt nice full stretch of left side ribs at A4 and except for one drive had a decent day (79) on the course.

Low hands, unlocked soft arms, pull right hip back, carry club with both arms, stay centered.

Way better! Way way way.

If I'm being picky (and the camera moves so it's not as much as these lines make it look - I drew lines on the pavement for more info, too):

image.jpeg

Bit too much reverse tilt from a bit too much right hip not going "forward" diagonally here.

Tough to tell exactly with the camera moving a little, though. Tripods > wives. 😄

Or daughters... Heh. She took the new tripod to camp and it never came back. So her 'punishment' is to record me whenever I ask her.

Yeah maybe I am overdoing the centered thing and then reverse bending to hold imaginary line from eye to ball to hold my structure centered. I think a result of that or maybe whatever. That might be tough to break but will work on it.

Thanks!

Hear, hear! Finally... no sixes, no doubles, no penalties!! 11 pars and 7 bogeys for a birdie free clean 77.

Not sure if I will ever do that again. Calls for a couple of Scotches!!

Got a chance to play with @DeadMan and his lovely wife and neighbor Darren at the Homestead Golf Club in Lakewood last weekend during a trip with my wife. Also met his kids for an after-game meal at his place. What an awesome family!

I have a DL swing video that he recorded and sent me but having trouble downloading it. Will try tomorrow. Played okayish with Daniel's borrowed club. And yes I did fly a couple of greens in Denver's thin air as advertised.. lol!

Striking wasn't terrible but the swing looks narrow as heck. Meh..

Please tell me it was cold and you were wearing a stocking cap to keep warm and not because you are a hipster!

I like the swing rhythm in the one.

No, not a hipster. Ha. It had been fairly cold until mid-morning.

My head was starting to fry a bit after playing without anything on and it (hipster cap) was the only sun protection I had that morning at hand. I already have some more brown spots starting to appear on my head lately, didn't have a regular hat so had no choice but to look dumb in favor of protecting my bald head. 😊

Thanks for the compliment on the rhythm. Had a conversation with @iacaslast night and he said the hip sway was better (I am assuming compared to last year) from some other vids @DeadManhad filmed for me. I will post them once I get my phone to co-operate.

Swing 1 was tad bit pulled but got away with it. The other two were fine.

I keep forgetting that shoulder plane needs to be steeper at least somewhat match arm plane (I guess it's a feel) ... Grrrrr.

Hit some more 'roundhouse' pulls walking a few holes late last afternoon till I realized I was being a bit lazy and then straightened it out. For some reason I seem to have an aversion to letting chest drop a bit lower to the ground at address and really, through the swing. Slumpy shoulders and rounded upper back with low hangy arms (a feel) helps greatly. When done right arms rise to chin and whip through the ball without much use of torso (yet another feel..). Torso just goes along for a ride back and through.

On a good note I am slowly getting to a point where I am still forcing my arms to come around to impact sometimes (posture thing as noted above) but not noticing any forced hand/wrist manipulations at all.

Why isn't golf like skiing? Couple of runs down the slopes to kick off the season and it's like you never left.

On the other hand Golf is so freaking regressive. I am exhausted from trying not to lose my work done while still in the season. If it weren't so tragic it would be funny.

Anyway, mini-rant over. Back to chopping wood and carrying water.

I'm nothing if not persistent.

Putting aside, still playing good golf.

Spent some time looking at my videos above and realized that while focused on my lower body priority, I was letting my shoulders turn too flat. Posturally, bit more incline was needed at address and maintained throughout the swing. Drove well with this additionally thought - "Unstacked shoulders with deep hands".

I don't know when, if ever, I will get to some autonomous, thought free golf but as of now I don't see an end to playing swing golf. It feels like a tight rope walk on every swing with a very small margin of error. I recognize the fact that I am not reaching critical mass of practice to permanence. Will continue being patient and persistent.

On a random note, read this fancy term - 'matchups' somewhere. I kinda like it and makes sense to me. Makes the golf swing a little less mysterious..🙂
