So, I'm watching the Humana and all I can think about is next week and my boy Tiger coming back. His swing looked pretty/really good when he played his tournament back in December, his chipping was an absolute abortion, and his putting was so-so. Anyways, that's pretty much all I care about. GOOOOO TIGS!!! Picks? Prognostications?

I prognosticate that Golf Channel and whatever other channel that airs coverage will inexplicably manage to air less of Tiger's playing time than they should. Wouldn't surprise me to see Tiger play in a morning pairing Thursday before Golf Channel gets on air because they hate getting ratings.

Golf Channel had dedicated coverage of the stadium hole last year while NBC did the main tournament. Wouldn't mind a Tiger feed instead, haha.

It's a cliche, but I would absolutely watch coverage of Tiger practicing on the range in Florida over a routine tournament.

Yeah, not NBC ... Gary McCord is always at 16 and he's cbs.

I would totally be on that.

I looked it up, and I was thinking of 2013 with the spotlight coverage on Golf and the main thing on NBC. Last year was CBS.

So we have the Super Bowl and Tiger Woods at the same time in the same city?  What an outstanding video choice.  Super Bowl kick-off 3:30 pm Sunday afternoon in Phoenix. TWoods collecting Waste trophy 4:20 pm same day, same city.

Gonna wear out my remote buttons.

Yeah, it depends on who is doing the Super Bowl each year between CBS and NBC (and maybe now FOX too!)

But it looks like it is CBS this year for main weekend coverage... I checked WCBS' (CBS NYC) schedule online, and they are showing it... so it's safe to assume all affiliates of CBS are.

This tournament is at the bottom of lists tournaments to watch, but I'll be watching because of Tiger and Phil. I would really like a big year from those two.

No matter what you think of him, golf really needs Tiger to show up this year.  If he can be in contention in Augusta its going to be a ratings bonanza for CBS.  As for this tournament I actually like it and think its great Tiger has agreed to come back and play in it.

Agreed. Healthy Tiger is always going to be good for golf. Everyone in the field should go to him and give him a hug.

I like watching the scenery from Hawaii, but I don't fully believe the season's begun yet, especially since football is on.

This tournament sways me big time into thinking the season is beginning (and I know now... the wrap-around season means we're already 4 months in).  But here, the crowds are always huge, Mickleson and other big names seem to be staples, and this year, we've got Eldrick on CBS... it's going to be great.

Totally agree...always feels like once we hit the continental US it's real, they hit Florida, it's on... and when the Masters starts.. We are in full swing. I really want Tiger to play well and get his Mojo back... It's so great for golf. Nothing would make me happier to see Tiger and Phil battle in the last group going into Amen corner this season...

This tournament kicks ass for some reason and now with TW its gonna give me fuzzy feelings in my pants. Thought you all would like to know.

But, I like a guy like Horschel to pick up where he left off last year and get the win this week. He's the fiery type to engage the fans and feed off of the atmosphere.

    • My course Elizabeth Manor hosts the Eastern Amateur every year in July. The best 'kids' shoot like -8 each day from the tips, so I think US Open qualifier would end up a 2-3 shots better. Basically it would be a game of misses - birdie misses.
    • For what it's worth, I never took Bryson as a bad person. Now more so, he seems way more genuine now than he used to be. He just leaning into his personality, and I think that is a good thing because he is a very entertaining golfer. I find his YouTube channel entertaining. He just made a questionable business decision in joining LIV.  I mean, man props to Bryson here. Bryson, during the final round, between the 17th and 18th hole signed the hat of a disabled kid. He didn't have to go out of his way to do this. Same for Rory, Rory stopped on by as well to greet the kid. Mad props to Rory as well.
    • It's funny because the USGA through the FSGA definitely had a formula for what they wanted to see. They were very careful to set up a very fair test. They didn't tip it out, and they actually moved a few holes up from the black tees because they didn't like how a tree was blocking out one side of the fairway or that every par 3 was over 195. There was a mixture of easier and harder pin locations and the greens were cut to their specs.  In the end, I think they accomplished their goal of identifying the best golfers that particular day. Finally, I would highly recommend attendance at one of these events. It was very spectator friendly where you could get really close to some really good guys and see them work their way around the course. There are no ropes, its quiet, and there are no hordes of crowds to navigate. I think Charlie Woods, who had a security detail, had between 15-30 people hanging around but others like Kutchar and LeMieux, really flew under the radar.
    • I mean, everything is so complicated now with the US being in bed with the House of Saud for so long   I did enjoy his unbridled enthusiasm and the fact that he graciously chose not to criticize Rory for dipping out
    • Just curious, why don't you usually hit driver there? Downwind would typically help keep it a bit straighter, and it seems like laying back some would bring that right fairway bunker into play, right? Looks like the only penalty stroke hazard would potentially be way left, right?
