Stumbled across this forum while researching irons. Looks like a good board...looking forward to doing a lot of reading around here to get a feel for the forums, and to learning and talking golf with you guys. A little about me, name's Joel, but you can call me Red. I'm on the dark side of 50...been an avid golfer for 30+ years. Don't play as well these days as I did when I was younger...I'm about a 13 HC now, at my best I was about an 8...but those days are gone. I've gotten a little arthritic the last couple years, which has reduced the number of rounds I play per month by quite a bit, but I still try to get a couple rounds in a week. Just traded up to a new set of irons...Callaway X Hot N14's. Excited to break 'em in...so far I've only hit them during the fitting in the store, but I feel like they're gonna give me back some distance I've lost the last few years due to age, arthritis, and a set of irons that I never hit very far. Anyway, excuse my rambling...glad to be here! Red

    • Day 4 (5 May 24) - mirror work focused on “feel of weight” transfer onto lead foot.  Continued work to develop trust in lead foot being able to handle full weight pressure…
    • Ok, so I’m still confused here. Are you saying I could have used the only available Spot in the bunker even though it was 6-7 feet closer to the hole?
    • Yes. If you choose to take the ball out of the bunker instead of taking maximum available relief… it costs a stroke.
    • I got another one today....Number 17. Par 5 that has water left and right on the layup. I smacked a drive down the left side and got a little lazy on the layup and fanned my 6 iron. With 112 to a crowned green I got it to 3 feet and birdie!  Only 5 and 15 is left for this year!
    • Maybe I didn’t explain this properly. Back and front can be confusing.  There was no place in the bunker that didn’t have 2-3 inches of rain water in it, except for a small spot on the slope nearest the pin. If I had dropped there I would be moving 6-7 feet closer to the hole. Since my ball was just inside the bunker, farthest side from the hole, I dropped one club length backward, which brought me out of the bunker. I could not have hit from that deep of water. Are you saying I would have had to take a penalty stroke due to rain water?
