Rory isn't the only guy that could destroy St. Andrews by driving it a long way. It will all depend on the weather and if Rory can keep his hot streak going.

Yeah, but most of the other guys can't do anything after driving it a long way. Rory can also put his irons/chip shots pretty damn close to the hole and close the deal. In 2010 when he wasn't nearly as good as he is now, he played it pretty damn well for 3 days. But like you said, the weather is the X factor because that's what got him in that 2nd round in 2010. If not for that windy day, Rory would have won his first major at St. Andrew's. He needs the weather like Tiger got in 2000 and 2005. If he gets that, he'll dominate like Tiger did those two years.

Getting real homoerotic in this thread.

Yeah, the commentators are really riding his nuts hoping for the next Tiger so they can make more money.

One of the best golfing performances of all time.

And he didnt even go hard yesterday...

Could have been another 5 to 6 under.

I disagree. Rory hit driver a lot and was aggressive all day. He was taking dead aim with his short irons all day long. No way he eased up yesterday.

His 61 was an outlier round when he putted very well.  If he didn't three putt hole 2 and hit a better short game shot on hole 17 he would have been 5 under par instead of 3 under par for the day.

His strokes gained stats show he actually struck the ball much better on Sunday. With his driver and approach shots he gained 2 strokes over Saturday. He lost about 7 strokes because he didn't putt nearly as well on Sunday. If he putted as well as he did Saturday on Sunday then he might have broken 60.

He may not have let up but he certainly didn't press the issue more than he had to...

He is not stupid and wouldn't bring a double/triple into play with a large lead.  But with the way he was playing, he could have shot another low 60s round yesterday if he really went for it.

Of Course not, he just hit driver on every hole except the drivable par 4 when he hit 5-wood to the front edge. The guy averaged 321 yards off the tee. He was agressive and pushed the issue every hole.

really?

There is more to aggressive/pushing the issue than hitting driver.  Driver is arguable his best club, why wouldn't he hit it?

Pushing it involves aiming at pins instead of bailing out and aggressive chipping/putting.

Other than bailing out to the right on 17, where else do you think he did it?

Umm, Rory was consistently close to the pin all day. He had a lot of inside of 15 feet looks for birdie. Heck Strokes Gained for his approach game was better Sunday than it was Saturday. This means he was going at pins, he wasn't bailing towards the center of the green.

I don't know what golf you were watching, but Rory went at the course with his full attack mode and beat it into submission. He didn't go out and shoot even par hitting the center of every green.
