Don't try and win the hole from the tee by trying to out drive your opponent, I've seen more matches lost this way than any other. If anything start the remainder of the match playing over cautious, if you know you can make the 2nd shot play an iron off the tee a safe conservative shot not only does this make you look like you've already conceded defeat but in turn can give your opponent an arrogance and cockyness that can soon be their undoing

Well I started off just the same but clawed 2 back. In the end it wasn't enough. Always next year! Appreciate all the advice. Meant to say he played off 12.

Getting two back is a good comeback, congratulations.  It sounds like you conquered your anger and frustration and played some good golf.

This match didn't sound quite fair, good job getting 2 holes back! Even with 7 strokes, you're going to have a tough time getting half the holes.
