If you want the guy who really constructed that budget look at John Kasich, republican governor of Ohio. He was the chairman of the house budget Committee who was the lead architect for that budget in 1997. He's the guy who helped bridge house republicans and Clinton to get that budget passed.

Unfortunately, you or I have as good a chance of winning the GOP primary as Kasich.  He's a (Christian) socialist after all, quoting Matthew and talking about stealing my tax dollars to give shit away to the poor, rationalizing it talking about having answers at the pearly gates and all.  Communist Manchurian candidate if you ask me.

Admit It: You People Want To See How Far This Goes, Don’t You?

The latest polls are out, and just as I predicted, I’m leading the Republican presidential race by a wide margin. You might be wondering how that could be. After all, it’s hardly been a month since I entered the field and I’ve already alienated America’s largest immigrant population, seen dozens of my high-profile business deals implode one after the other, and publicly insulted a national hero’s military service, all while not offering a single viable policy idea. But none of that matters at all, and my candidacy continues to surge forward, because none of you—not a single one of you—can look away. Not even for a second.

Admit it: You people want to see just how far this goes, don’t you?

I'm still trying to figure out which crowd those are meant for.  People who like Donald Trump or people who want to smack him as hard as they can in the face with a big stick?

The satire was humorous, too.

Future president Donald Trump takes a break from nuclear talks to sell memberships at Trump Turnberry Golf Club. (Photo: Ian MacNicol/Getty)

“They didn’t read ‘The Art of the Deal.’” —Donald Trump, on “Morning Joe,” referring to his 1987 best-seller, critiquing the treaty with Iran

So I called you here today because I think it’s important to get this deal signed. I mean important to you, I frankly don’t care that much. You’re talking atom bombs, we have the best atom bombs in the world — fantastic, incredible atom bombs. I had them all redone in bronze when I was elected, because we’re a world-class country, and let’s face it, gunmetal gray isn’t a very attractive color even for a 500-megaton weapon that could set your beard on fire from 250 miles away.

Which I’m not saying to threaten you. Because I don’t have to threaten you, that’s not how I negotiate. I understand your position. You’ve got all these centrifuges that are, basically, don’t take this the wrong way, they’re pieces of junk, and you need to get rid of them. So if you’re asking will we take them off your hands, the answer is yes, we will, if the price is right.

But I gotta tell you, I’m just not that impressed with what you’re offering. I could walk away from this deal right now and tomorrow I could buy all the uranium in Iran with what NBC paid me for one season. And then you know what I would do with it? I’d enrich it. Who knows more about enrichment than me?

I want to say something for your own good. Because I’m worried you might be thinking of going with Russia. Russia is for losers. And China is worse. Maybe I shouldn’t be saying this, but I’ll say it anyway because I like to speak my mind. I heard this from someone very, very high up in the government. I don’t want to say who. But he told me, China is a total joke.

Look, I love your country. You have some incredible ruins. Flying here, I saw at least three sites where I would love to put a world-class golf course and casino. And the Iranian people are my biggest fans. They love all the things the Trump name stands for: freedom, democracy, elegance, class, 10-foot-6 ceiling heights and granite countertops. I said to my vice president the other day, “Oprah, do you think I can be president of Iran and America at the same time?” Because I honestly think I could get elected here. “Celebrity Apprentice” has been on reruns for six years here, and it’s still the highest-rated program in the history of Iranian television.

So look, we’ve been negotiating all morning. I’ve closed deals for some of the most expensive, luxurious apartments in the world in less time. I’ve got a major golf tournament starting in a few hours. So if you want to make a deal, call my assistant and she’ll fax over a treaty. Secretary of State Hannity will handle the details.

Good stuff, @Mr. Desmond .   The satire is spot on with D Trump's likely behavior as a US president.  It's not too far from what he has been saying on Mexico, ISIS, China, McCain, ....   I still can't understand that there are 17% (or so) of Republicans willing to nominate him.   Surely, after DT's McCain comment, the next poll result will show DT losing ground.

McCain is a war hero but the GOP as a whole isn't a big fan of his.  Those that voiced their outrage at DT likely were placating their constituents who were POW's and veterans, not really trying to defend McCain.

I think most of them were genuinely defending McCain and at the same time, used it to pounce on DT.   I'd like to believe that they are better than what you think above.   I am not a Republican and am not a big fan of McCain.  But I was outraged by DT's remark, especially. given that he managed to avoid serving in military.   All these lead to DT's being a narcissistic egomaniac.

And yet another low for DT, he gives out Graham's cell phone number.   He's acting like a spoiled brat.

I'm not sure the quoted "double-digit lead" is that much fun is it?

Seriously though, could Trump really get the Republican nomination?

The problem in the U.S. right now is that many people want to say no friggin way, but its hard to tell any longer. I think he's getting so cavalier and loony that the curtain will close soon. In one week he's called out a 5-year Vietnam vet and POW who's been in the Senate for 25 years for "getting captured" and released a personal cell phone number as a gimmick on national television. What's the encore, releasing Hillary Clinton's credit card account numbers to the NY Times? I wouldn't be surprised to see several civil suits come his way if this stuff keeps up.

I don't think so.   He cornered the far rights of Rep party.   As candidates drop out one by one, their supporters are more likely to vote for more sane candidate than DT.  My 2 cents.

    • I have been debating getting a launch monitor of some sort, if only so I can re-figure my shot zones (I haven't actually mapped them in years) and also to practice distance wedges at home.  I have to see if this works with either my current setup, or what my setup would be if I move it to the garage.
    • Day 48, June 23.  After work today, I took 25 minutes in my practice room;  6-iron, same everything as yesterday except the time and count.
    • Well, this is interesting.  I think we discovered a few months ago that I haven't been following professional golf in a while (my confusion about Scotty's footwork confirmed that), so at least as I aim to follow a bit more I'll get something new to learn with all of you.  My very quick read of Erik's summary makes me think this new Challenger series fits somewhere between Korn Ferry and the Championship (not Champions, but I know I'm going to make that mistake a few times if I'm not careful!).   My recollection is that there were already second-tier events among the PGA Tour;  the Bob Hope didn't have the same quality of field as the event at Riviera (whose current name I forget, although now that I say that, I realize the Palm Springs event hasn't been called the Bob Hope in a few years either).   With the absence of the FedEx (if I'm reading that correctly), does that mean no more FedEx Cup at all? Hopefully I'll have time later in 2026 to sit down and see what we're in for in 2027, where one of my goals already is to follow more professional golf.
    • The highlights as I see them: Championship and Challenger Series The creation of the PGA Tour and the PGB Tour, in the words of Joel Dahmen a few years ago. They're calling them the Championship Series (23-24 events) and the Challenger Series (20+ events). Both run February to August. They feel this will achieve three things: increasing the consistency and quality of fields across the season creating a clear system for players to earn and retain status and delivering a more structured and competitive experience for fans and partners—all in an effort to strengthen meritocracy. Championship Series Structure and Eligibility The 23-24 events includes the Players, majors, season-ending events, and the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup. These will be 72-hole events with a 36-hole cut to the top 65 and ties and purses of $20M+. 120 players without an alternate list. 90 players (roughly) from the previous year and 20 players promoted from the Challenger Series. Full eligibility will be finalized later this year. Sites (cities) to be finalized soon, but 10 of the 15 courses have already been determined. Postseason: includes retention and relegation and concludes with match play. The Tour Championship will also be played across a rotation of prestigious courses. Challenger Series Structure and Eligibility 20+ events. Running concurrently. Will feature players fighting their way back to the Championship Series or players graduating and on the upswing from the Korn Ferry Tour. Many of these events will be current PGA Tour courses. About 7 of the Challenger Series events will be during off weeks for the Championship Series with elevated purses and visibility. Purses of at least $4M, with cuts similar to the Champ series. 144 player fields. Competitive Fields for Both Series Players will be eligible for only one series at a time: Championship Series Players are not eligible for Challenger Series events. Championship Series members will have a known schedule with all events having the same eligibility. Players and Majors will have their own eligibility criteria. Championship Series players don't have to play all events. This begs the question about, say, the Canadian Open, and other "home-town" events that players might want to play, even if they're Challenger Series events. Will releases be granted? Promotion and Relegation At least 90 players will be retained in the Championship Series, and 20 players will be promoted from the Challenger Series each year. Battlefield promotion for two-time winners from the Challenger Series. Players relegated from the Championship Series will have a "last chance" opportunity to retain status, or will go to the Challenger Series. Criteria will be finalized before the start of the 2027 season. Points System New points system (not FedExCup points). Separate points systems for the Championship and Challenger Series. Elevated points in the Challenger Series for off-weeks on the Championship Series. More details tk. Elevated International Events in the Fall The fall schedule will include a limited series of elevated international events with top players from the Championship Series, with the intent to deliver in partnership with the DP World Tour as part of the Strategic Alliance. Last Chance Series The Tour will develop a “last chance” series of 4-6 events in the fall, with a limited number of spots on the Championship Series available for top finishers. Eligibility will include players relegated from the Championship Series, Challenger Series players, and other categories to be determined. Q-School continues, as do the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Latinoamerica. Also, Brian Rolapp is the new commissioner as of January 1, 2027.
