Who will win more Majors in their career: Rory or Spieth?

^This exactly, I don't think they're going to run away from the field and just divvy up the Majors between the two of them either.  There are too many good young golfers coming on to the Tour to just hand them the crowns, plus some older guys who aren't ready to hit the Champions Tour yet.

These are pretty much my thoughts.  There are enough factors that I can make a convincing argument for both based on numerous variables.

I think other players will step up, but I do think at least for the next 5 years, these guys are going to trade majors back and forth a lot. This is something very unique in golf right now. The last time two different golfers both held two different major championships at the same time was back in 1980-81 when Jack and Tom Watson traded majors back and forth from the US Open to the Masters.

It's great for the game. This is the most I've enjoyed golf since really the height of Tiger Woods in 2008. There was a thread 6 months ago about whether the game is in good shape or not, and I said if Rory and Jordan can step up, I think it will be. Right now they are, and right now, the game is in good hands as long as they continue to stay at the top.

Impossible to predict with accuracy at this point.  I voted Spieth since he might be a little bit ahead right now, given he has two majors at age 21.

Rory's long game will give him more chances.  Spieth's Strokes Gained - Total: 2.16, Tee To Green: 1.62, Putting: 0.50 Rory's Strokes Gained - Total: 2.17, Tee to Green: 2.00, Putting: 0.17 It is easier to improve putting over ball striking. Rory has a big advantage, nearly 1.5 strokes over the course of a tournament than Spieth. That is why Rory, in one round, was making a charge at the US Open when his putting gets hot.

Hard to to disagree with stats. But I have to agree that Rory with fall into the same issues that Tiger has experienced. I think Jordan has a better attitude and damage control. Rory has more blow up holes it seems like, but then again he's also been in the spotlight longer.

Rory for me but a very tough call.  He is the complete player, imo, and has the ability to rip courses and the field apart.

Spieth's putting is as good as I've seen (up there with Tiger in his pomp) and that will always leave him with a chance.

Wouldn't like to put much of a wager on it though ;)

Exciting golf times, and as Newtogolf says, there's more than just those two who can challenge.

I've got to go with Spieth.  His "will" to win is amazing.  He always seems to find a way to put himself in a position to be near the top where Rory seems to either blow out the pack or be no where near  the top.

For the moment, Spieth is "free-wheeling" it. He's loose and relaxed and in the groove. He's got it goin' on (like Stacy's mom). Rory is still trying to rekindle his recent magic. He's more like Marvin Gaye asking "What's goin' on?" I'll go with Rory. Better song.

You're in the ballpark. They both went through the first two majors leading after 7 of the 8 rounds. I'm not sure if anyone else in the modern day did that. I know Tiger didn't. That's pretty amazing, in my eyes, to do that. Of course Ror's one round he didn't lead after was the '11 Masters.

Yeah, he also had a pretty damn good 2000. The last 3 majors of the year he led after 10 of the next 12.

I am a fan of both. I voted Rory, but wouldn't second guess someone who voted Spieth. Like others have said, when Rory is on, he is hard to beat. Two great talents that I look forward to watching slug it out.

I generally agree with what a lot of you are saying except for the people who say that Speith is more consistent.  Obviously Rory just missed two cuts so it is hard for me to say anything but look at the past year for Rory.  Unless you are comparing the year to prime Tiger it is unbelievably consistent, more so than Speith.  It isn't just about wins and missed cuts.  They play other tournaments to.  I honestly don't think it is really fair to talk about Speith at this point because he doesn't have that much for us to go on.  To be honest the last half-year is the only really good golf Speith has played on tour.  It is like a lot of you are taking how he has played over this time and projecting it for his entire career, just like many did for Rory after he won the two majors last year.  I think most agree that Rory has a higher ceiling and his "A" game is better than Speith's.  Even recently when Rory was charging at the US Open it was on another level than I have ever seen Speith play.  Despite every thing I said there is a chance Speith ends up with more but when you watch both of them on their "A" game it is hard for me to see Speith as the winner.

Huh? You totally lost me here. Are we talking about the same player? He was in contention in the British Open and Masters at 20 years old. That was bad golf? And if you look at his overall numbers the last two years, he's the model of consistency with the exception of a bit of a string of struggles last summer.
