Who else is injured right now and addicted to golf?

I am nursing a wrist injury that has left me barely able to putt... I think I am going to go insane. Summer is here and the weather has been perfect and I can't do any of my hobbies. Anyone else? I need a support group

It's frustrating.  I'm constantly injured.  It comes with age and being very active.  The soreness just migrates around my body.  I played two days in a row a week back and my whole left side, ankle, knee and shoulder were sore.  All from previous injuries.  I am always icing some part of my body.  I recover, but just soldier on.  That is what addicts do.

I used to get injured all the time (just read through my history of posts), but as I've gained more keys I've gotten injured a lot less.

Figure out what is causing the specific injury and do a series of slow swings while changing your body positions until you don't feel excessive stress on any joints or tendons. Of course, it still needs to be a functional swing, but you don't need to hit as far as you think. Take it easy on every swing. . .

I have "runners knee" at the moment, but still play. Honestly I do an assessment each morning I wake up, to see what will hurt today ... I struggle with lower back issues mainly, I just have warm up slow and stretch good

Playing injured is part of my own, current golf game. Lot's of little aches, and pains to contend with. Nothing that will keep me off the golf course, so I thank my lucky stars for that. Probably the biggest problem I have is that I have a pin, plate, and some screws in my left wrist which I have to be careful with. Can't hit into any hidden tree roots, or rocks. Deep divots are another problem I have to  watch out for.

I have been thinking about switching over to playing left handed. I was a  pretty capable switch hitter when I played baseball, and I even own a set of left handed clubs. I will just see what my golf future has in store for me.

My back popped last Tuesday as I bent over to pet my dog, so I've been taking care of that this week.  Muscle relaxers, anti-inflamatory tabs (Aleve), exercises and my wife's essential oil therapy have it feeling a lot better, but I haven't had the courage to try and swing a club yet.  The back problem is a chronic condition I've dealt with for more than 30 years.

I know what the injury is. It needs time to heal, probably a winter. It has been usable and relatively comfortable in about 3-5 weeks. I just have to be aware and careful and it will be okay. It is just that it affects everything and I am going nutty not being able to play. There is more to it but right now it is time.....

Nothing is worse than playing hurt :( I'm not glad you guys are suffering but it is comforting to know I am not the only one...

Yeah I am out for the year with a tendon injury near my left wrist. The injury happened back in early April.

I have a left shoulder issue that has been nagging for awhile. Seeing a therapist now and he is a golfer so he has told me that he wants me to play, but not to do full swing practice. We will use the rounds to judge progress of the injury since I can play with it. This was the summer I decided I wanted to get a lot better so have overdone it in practice. This is probably a good thing.

Broke my wrist skiing this winter. My driver has been a little crazy this year because I haven't built of strength yet. Hoping it will come around before the end of the season.

Hit a few lob wedge shots today. I think I should have left it alone but I went to practice putting and brought my practice wedge and couldn't resist hitting some 50 yarders. Now I am sore and hopefully not set back....

I mean this in the best way possible, but I don't know how you older guys do it! I'm only 36 and have a horrible lower back and knees. It goes back to my baseball and basketball days. My back is always incredibly sore the day after I play golf. I'm not sure 30 years from now I'll still be able to play regularly.

My back has been a problem since about 1983-84.  Not from any specific injury but I was doing a lot of whitewater kayaking on summer weekends and I had to finally quit because being locked in that position (not a lot of room to wiggle in a kayak) for several hours left me a virtual cripple for the next week.  Golf actually seems to help me - go figure. :blink:

I am. I was getting my golf fix from Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2013 until I traded in my XBox 360. Next up Rory's PGA Tour 2015.

First it was the tibia. I have a bone spur right under the patellar tendon. It flares up periodically. Physical therapy doesn't help. I had to go to a modified version of S&T.; Two orthopedists tell me there is no treatment - surgery is impossible due to the location. You don't shoot tendons with cortisone.

Repeated trauma over the years from weight lifting and most recently from too much driving range work aggravated bone spurs in my shoulders. Both of them. We're trying cortisone shots. I'm exercising them now. Perhaps in July I'll be able to play again. Maybe. I won't be able to practice so much if at all, so the choice between playing or range work, I'll play. Maybe practice at the range off a short tee and hit a few drives. Just don't make impact with the mat. Save that for the course. Spend most of my practice on my short game and putting.

This has forced me to lower my expectations with the game. I'll be very happy if I can shoot 90. I'm prepared to build a game around keeping the ball on the fairway and be able to chip and putt well to get up and down.

The saving factor is  playing from the reds.

Now if you have a XBox One, and get Rory's PGA Tour 2015 later in July......
