I tried one at our local golf store and I believe it will be my next putter. It just felt right.

I use the Tank Cruiser #7, it has adjustable weights and I like it a lot. I've tried and own a lot of different putters and this has stayed in the bag the longest.

I have still been chewing on this one. If I understand correctly the 38 inch one is designed for those that used an anchored putter as the counter balance effect is greater. The 35 inch is may be a better fit for those that are used to standard length putters. If you understand all this counter balance stuff please explain.

I bought the Tank Versa #1 a few weeks ago. 38 inch length (counterbalance). At first, was weird with the longer grip, but my fitting session numbers were best with it. Have played with it 3 rounds now and have averaged 3 less putts with it. Once you get used to it, IMO, best putter I have ever used. I get handsy at times and the counterbalance has done wonders for me so far.

Here's a good link to see the comparisons between counterbalance and standard putters. Basically, counterbalance putters have a higher MOI which in theory stabilizes your putting stroke more. I've never used an anchored putting stroke but like the counterbalance putters.

Pulled the trigger on 38 inch model. Picked it up on line for $150.00 from a big box. I couldn't refuse with a deal like that. Now I will be waiting patiently until it arrives.

Thanks newtogolf for the article. It confirmed what I thought. For those who haven't checked it out. A counterbalanced putter may or may not sink more putts. It may be a good solution if you are switching from a anchored putter or want a smoother pendulum swing. Best try and or get fitted.

You're welcome and I'm glad it worked out, you got a great price too! I'm testing out the Cure putter for another week but I used the Tank during my club championship and it performed very well. As much as I like the Cure I think I putt better with a counterbalanced putter.

I've fallen in love with the Versa Jailbird putter from Odyssey with the Superstroke grip. The head design is very similar and, while it isn't counterweighted, it's incredibly stable. My brother just bought one for $90 from Callaway Preowned. With my birthday coming up, I may bite on something similar.

Still getting used to it. Not sure that the 38 inch version was the right choice. I may switch it out for the 35 in version. So far I have only made to practice green. I like the feel and roll off the face. I also really like the Super-stoke grip and the alignment aids. Pace has been easy to control so far which means a miss or poor read means short putt left. I also seem to be making more but then again I was using a 2 inch target cup rather than a standard cup. If this translates to the course I should leave 3 putts behind. So far the 15 gram weights in both the handle and head seem to work well.

Where are you gripping the putter? Counter balanced putters should be gripped pretty low on the handle so that your stance isn't much different from using a 35". The additional length of the putter shaft and weight at the top is designed to give you more of a pendulum effect.

Question for you please, I bought the Odysee Tank but put a super stroke grip on it. The superstroke is about 2" shorter than the original grip and I think I may have decreased the counterbalance effect? I noticed residue below the SS grip on the shaft where I think may be a better place to grip this putter....does this make sense?

Yes, The standard SS grips are around 10.5". There are special SS stroke grips designed for counter balanced putters, the standard Tank grips are 13.75" long and the Tank Cruiser are 14" long. You can buy the OEM versions of the Odyssey Tank grips from SS but if you want a standard SS grip just make sure you purchase the XL version which are 13.75". Hope this helps.

I grip it as I would a standard length putter. The 3 extra inches gets close to my six pack abs. I am from Wisconsin after all and beer is good. Still getting used to it. Bigger change than I expected. Liking the standard weights. Really like the large grip. It does advertised.

Newb question, what is the difference between the different styles of counterbalanced putters like #1 vs #7? Is the 7 more for sbst strokes like traditional putters, or is that not the case with counterbalanced? I'm thinking of trying one of these but like the #1 better visually, so wanted to check as I do have more of a sbst stroke. Thanks!

It's about preferences, #1 is more of a blade style putter while #7 is a mallet style but they weigh the same.
