I would like to get some ideas on where to play and stay, It would be best to stay at the course due to the fact that I will be partying while I'm there.

There are a ton of threads about Orlando golf. Just do a quick search. I'd be happy to answer specific questions. A couple for you.... How many people are coming? How serious are you about the golf? Budget? How long will you be here and how many rounds will you play? Do you want night life, or are you fine just off by yourself? When are you coming?

February and I was looking at Orange County national. I just want to get to a place and not have to leave. Do you have a place that would be better in your opinion?

For pure, quality golf, you can't do better that that. 2 great courses, a 9-hole short course, a great practice facility right outside of the rooms, and a nice bar and grill. You'll have a blast.

Orange County is a great course. I played the Panther course this past year.

If you want to drive,

Celebration is a fantastic course

Champion's Gate International is good

A longer drive,

Southern Dunes is great

I may have to try Orange County sometime.  Looks like it is about an hour from me.  At some point I'll venture outside my little area of 12 27 Hole Championship courses I get a great discount on.

If you are a resident, there is no reason to leave for the prices they get and since they already have carts.  I am not of age to be a resident, but I am an employee so I get a discount.  I live on the outskirts, so no cart for me either.

I've played several of the courses there, I really liked the Nancy Lopez course and would love to play the Arnold Palmer one.

Let me know when :-) I just played Palmer on Saturday.  I haven't played Lopez yet, it's on the far north end of The Villages and it takes the guys I play with 40 mins in their carts to get there. It is probably one of maybe 3 I haven't played. I do alot of my practice at Palmer because I get free range balls and they have a nice putting and chipping area and it is 5 mins from my office.

I visited Orlando a few year back, stayed at Orange lake, loved the courses. Played my first night game there too

I've got a 4 day trip with a few golfing buddies coming up in February in the Orlando area.     We've rented a big townhouse in Champions Gate, FL.    I'm a big golfnow guy & there are a bunch of courses listed in the Orlando area (see below), but I'm shootin' totally blind.

Just hoping for some golfnow recommendations (anything within an hours or so drive is fair game).     We're on a budget - figure we'll play one $100 premium course, the rest around $50-60.    Really appreciate any local knowledge on the best bang for the buck courses  ... thx

I'll be in Orlando on Saturday.  I'll be playing the 2 Orange County National Courses, they are both great.  We're also going to try to play Bella Collina and my Dad wants to try North Shore Golf Club since it is close to his house.   If time permits, we'll also try to play Southern Dunes.

Not an Orlando course, but we're taking a trip down to Port St. Lucie to play the Legacy at PGA Village.

    • Day 16: range night! Worked on long game for about 40 minutes, with a good solid 20 minute focus on my priority piece. Things improving there. Bookended that with some wedge and driver work. Finished up with about 30 minutes of short game. Working on distance control and all types of shots and lies. Short game is probably as good as it has ever been.
    • You should be able to install it yourself, honestly. You could easily blow it on and use some one-sided duct tape or something so it stays in place. That's what I've done with one of my grips.
    • Day 22 (12 July 26) - worked on putting tempo today using metronome for accurate tempo.
    • Hi all, My Edel putter seems to have developed a rattle.  I don't think it's a big deal, as I mostly hear it when I'm tapping down ball marks on greens.  However, I am debating getting it fixed, especially as I intend to play a lot of golf in August and September, and to continue playing regularly after that of course too.  My issue is I think fixing it would entail the fixer (golf shop repair station?) removing the grip and, presumably, applying a new one.  My problem is two-fold.   First, I like the grip on it, although after eleven years, maybe it's worth replacing.   The bigger (second) issue is getting the grip.  I don't like the flat-fronted putter grips anymore.  I have the round one on my putter, and I suppose I could buy one from Edel's website, but would a golf shop install a grip I bought elsewhere and brought in?  Or could they order one if Edel is not a supplier of theirs?  I don't recall ever seeing any Edel products in a Roger Dunn or PGA Superstore, although the era when I would go to a store and browse has long since ended (for better or worse).  I'd also wonder what the timetable is, as I'm leaving for a seven week trip in under three weeks. Any suggestions on what to do would be very welcome, whether about the rattle or the grip, together or independently.  Thank you!
    • I'm glad to know that picking up grass and letting it go doesn't help.  It felt like it shouldn't, but I'm glad to hear there's a good reason why.  It makes sense that wind is different higher up than it is near the surface. For a while, I was in the habit of checking the prevailing wind direction before playing.  That helped if I wasn't sure.  However, I still am not really sure whether something is a 5% wind or a 10% wind (and, of course, I know that a "helping" wind helps about half as much as the same wind hurting).   One of these days, I'll learn how to figure out what to do differently if the prevailing wind is 10mph vs 20 mph.
