My wife has absolutely zero interest in golf and we're both perfectly okay with that.  We have our things we enjoy together and we have our things we enjoy apart.  I don't bug her to play golf, she doesn't bug me to watch chick flicks or go shoe shopping with her. :-)

You need to determine what your spouse sees in golf.

My wife sees it as a social and recreational activity, rather than a sport as I do. I vary my expectations accordingly.

She missed much of the year with an injured knee. When she starts up again, I may just ride along for a couple of nines and let her hit shots from different spots and get re-calibrated. She got custom fit for new clubs last year, and it's revived her interest.

(Her old clubs were years old, and weighed a lot and were a bit hard just to swing).

My life long dream is to get to live the answer to that ? They always ask the pros on golf channels playing lesson. Who would u most want to play a round of golf with? My answer is my wife and son. I PRAY IT HAPPENS ONE DAY! Ive taken the wife a few times and shes already had her first par. But our work schedules dont allow for such events any more. And baby boy is three so hes gotta get a little older first. Cant let people see me lose to a three year old boy.

I would love if my wife started golfing again. She did for a brief stint, and it was really enjoyable to walk 9, and spend time together. Unfortunately, with two young ones and not a lot of family around since we moved away from home, we don't ever get the chance anymore. But there is hope... Both our daughters like golf, so far. So there's a chance we'll have a nice little foursome sometime in the future

I took my wife and two little girls (6 and 10) golfing one day. It took 7 1/2 hours to play an exec course. The course was pretty empty (thank Heavens). It was slow, but I really enjoyed it. The girls drove the carts and loved when the cart girl came by. For some reason, we haven't gone again. That was 20 years ago.

A note for you guys with daughters who show an interest in golf.  Guy who rangers at my home course on my league night is a retired HS teacher and was girls' JV and Varsity golf coach.  Somehow, he's still into aligning area HS girls' golfers with golf-related college scholarships.  Last time we spoke about this his story was that more scholarships were available than golfers to offer.

On a side note, my local HS had twin girls who were #1 and 2 players on the girls' varsity golf team.  They were good enough to be the top 2 players both junior and senior years, but weren't head and shoulders above area competition by any means. Both were awarded full scholarships at state schools because of golf.

I think all these scholarships are available now due to Title 9 legislation (??) where an equal number of male/female sports scholarships must be awarded.

Get those young girls swinging and playing as soon as possible.  Would be nice to have some or all of a child's college tuition paid via golf.

I think the answer to that relies on far too many variables for there to be "an answer".

Great advice, thank you for sharing. My daughter is 8 and I got her clubs for her birthday this year and we've been out a few times and she likes it. I will keep it going as long as I can.

Good idea or bad idea????

Good for us.   We started playing golf together after my only kid went to college.   We have been enjoying it ever since, playing 2 - 3 times a week.  Our vacation plan now revolves around playing golf.
