What'd You Shoot Today?

Went 81 today at BCC (44-37). Played a very dissapointing front nine, missing just about every green since my irons were all over the place. Come back on the back, hit 8 of 9 greens and almost every fairway. Lipped out 2 birdie putts and 3 jacked the hardest hole on the back :/

Still a good round :)

Shot 75 (+3) yesterday. Not a great round but its the lowest score I have ever posted at this course. I have a hell of a time putting the greens. In fact the 75 included 6 three putts. I hit 14 greens. The greens are really tricky and fast as hell.

Hacked up a pretty nasty 103 on Saturday at Riverdale Dunes (69.8/125, 6430 yds.)

I actually had a pretty nice stretch of 10 holes, #3-#12. 4 pars, 5 bogeys, 1 double. However, I had two 10's. This place is a links course with nasty "native" grasses on every hole - you hit one in there you are screwed. On both of those holes I lost 2 balls each.

4 pars, 6 bogeys, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 2 10's! 6 FW, 1 GIR, 33 putts, 4 penalties. I actually putted pretty well. I'm glad we're out of season and that round doesn't count.

I shot as well as I could ,don't know what it was because we had the very rare opportunity to play our course backwards!! started from teeing up ball beside 18 green and working to first. helps alot when your brother is head pro and father-in law is head super.... course was closed for winter changeover and we got out at 6:30 am. took us 2hours 10 mins.. sure got some strange as well as dirty looks from members. who cares though.one time thrill I'll never forget.ps. par is 67,probably shot around70-71.

golfing this time of the year is so funny sometimes. Last Thur 74, Fri 84 and yesterday I shot 80.
Cold, windy with spots of rain. Not complaining, soon the snow will fall and the course is not open for play.

Well, I played the shortest par 70 course in the world. It measures 5,200 yards, but all the tees were way up, so I waited for all par 4s to clear except for one. That being said, I birdied 5 holes, but four were from two putts. Ended up with a 67 (rating: 64), but I knew a 64 would have been good, and a 62 would have been great. Years ago I heard a twelve year old shot a 58 there onece, so I felt like I really shot 3 over par.

Carded in the worst 43 of my life today. I went from tour pro to hack to tour pro, and back to hack all in the space of nine holes. 4/7 fairways, 4/9 greems, 15 putts.

Went as follows: Par (up and down), triple (four putt), birdie, triple (stuck in trees - lost three shots), par, birdie, par, par, triple (lost ball).

went to a new course, played 9 holes to the worst of my ability, then went back home sulking.

got up at 4.30am, went back out to the same 9 holes and scored a 51. It was an easy course too, straight layouts and generous lack of OB situations.

just got a new "golf card" that gives me very good rates at many of the local courses. so i will be expecting improvement in the next few weeks. i have been working on swinging through the shoulders more, and it seems that i am hitting the irons more consistently.

last saturday: 74 at PGA National ( http://www.palmerstownhouse.com/ ) in Ireland.

6956 yards par 72 - 2 under front 9, 4 over back 9. 12/14 fairways. 13/18 greens. CSS was 74, so that's 0.5 off the h/c!

practice and lessons are paying dividends!

I shot an 86, today. About 45 degrees, rained for about 3 holes, nothing heavy, slight wind. Round went as follows:

Zero Eagles
Zero Birdies
Four Pars
Twelve Bogeys
Two Double Bogeys
Ten Fairways Hit
Four GIR...Aargh
Thirty Four Putts

I left every second shot either short or pushed it to the right. Just need to work a lil harder and be MUCH MORE smart, next time.

Played the front 9 yesterday after work and shot 30 (-6). I was on fire. I birdied the first 6 holes then had 2 birdie putts inside 15 feet on numbers 7 and 8 that I barely missed. It was the lowest 9 hole score i have ever shot. I wish I could've continued but it was getting dark.

Then today I played 18 and shot 69 with a 31 on the back nine. Just think if I would have combined those two nines I could've shot 61! Either way I am pretty happy with both rounds.

Just got back from playing a full 18 at Gawler. Hit a 50 on the back and a 53 on the front (played back 9 first). I am pretty happy with a 103 which is one over my handicap..My latest form has been shithouse. Just went back to basics and it pulled through i suppose..

Played Cascata two weeks back... shot 81, even with two doubles and a triple. With a 71.7/138 rating and slope, I shouldn't complain about the score... but I'm a golfer so I'm obligated to complain! Amazing course, probably best in the Las Vegas area.

Saturday I played 36 holes at Hinkley Hills in Hinkley, Ohio. Shot 2 81's. The weather wasn't the greatest. About 50 degrees and overcast.

My ball striking wasn't the greatest. I was having a problem with ball position. I think the ball was too far forward in my stance and thought it was perfect.

The second round would have been worse If I didn't play the last 3 holes at 2 under. I hit an 8 iron iron from 145 on 16 off the flag stick for a kick in birdie. Hit the green and two putted on the par 3 17th. I sunk a 70 foot down hill right to left bomb on 18 for birdie. My buddie was not happy because of the press he made. He was down 3 going into 18. Lost 4 bucks to me.

I'm hoping to get a few more rounds in before old man winter hits.

Saturday - Out in 39, in at 42; total 81, par is 70. Last week out in 37, in at 42 for a 79. From the chapionship tees of course.

I don't have the strength and stamina to practice enough to get fully warmed up and then I don't have the stamina to make it at full strength for 18 holes.

Both weeks if you delete the first three out and the last three in I played 2 or3 under. Saturday it was double bogey, double bogey and then bogey to start, and double bogey, triple bogey and triple bogey to finish. Just too tired at the end to keep going.

Maybe I need to stop at the turn and get something to eat - I have Type 2 diabetes. All I normally carry is water.

II know exactly where I lost my two shots from the week before, I started playing a new ball, a NIke that comes in a cool, lime green metallic box (very soft) and I picked up about 2/3 of a club in distance, so say a 5 iron now travels closer to where my 4 iron was before. This put me over the green on three par 3s and a couple of par 4s. However, this longer ball helped me birdie a very long and difficult (for me) par 5 and let me with a lot of under 100 yard shots on shorter par 4s. In short, I liked the new ball.

    • You need to stick with one instructor as long as they’re not terrible. There’s no blueprint to improving a golf swing and different instructors may see different things as being more important and try to fix them. The end result is you get a hodge podge of things to work in that may not be cohesive or necessarily help you. If you stick to one instructor and communicate to them as such, they’ll also be able to work out a roadmap to your improvement which is more beneficial in the long run. If a guy assumes you’re just coming in for one lesson you might end up with a band aid.

    • Many thanks.  I read a lot of those posts.   Man, that is really deep.  As an old beginner, during a lesson or on the driving range, I have hit a good shot, you know pretty straight and it goes say 130 yards (7 iron).  The very next swing, I dig a ditch behind the ball.  I know I didn't do the same things on both swings.  Even this last lesson I had, I would hit a pretty good shot, not so on the next shot.  The instructor would quickly point out, "Hey you stayed on your back foot" or "Guess what happened there.  You got all armsy or handsy".  Sort of feels like I need a checklist when I prepare to swing each time.  I can see it now before every swing, "Hey can you guys give me 10 minutes while I run through my checklist".  In all seriousness, I see what you all are saying.  I wouldn't be overthinking it so much if just I could make decent contact most of the time.  Next lesson is about two weeks away.  Can't wait.

    • I was going to link in the same think @snapfade did.  Your swing is already consistent, repeatable, except for nearly "microscopic" differences.  The more mechanically-sound your swing becomes, the smaller and less frequent those "microscopic" deviations become.
