OCD Behaviour at the Golf Range

It's funny that your exact situation happened to me yesterday and the person asked if he could set up a camera between our stalls.

I responded with if I could do the same. We both laughed and did what we needed to do to try to improve our games. I paused for him to adjust his camera, and he did the same for me.

The way I look at it is we're there to work on stuff or hit targets or whatever else.

You might consider hitting into a net at home if you don't like these "distractions". You can't really get away from them on the course, so I don't have any suggestions for that.

I have one picked out on Amazon. But I do like the range.

This year, I saw a guy sunbathing at the range. Twice. Folding chair, shades, sleeping.

I see guys that hang out all day. I think that is a good thing.

 

I have a hard time relating to a lot of the complaints on here.  I live in a pretty rural area we have 4 courses with in driving distance and tho none of them are 5*, none of them are overly crowded either.  Our range is seldom stacked with people, unless you go there between 5-6 there is plenty of real estate.  The more I read the more I've begun to consider my self pretty lucky.

Golfzing has a deal out here for $40 a month that lets that gives you 2 buckets per day, every day. A lot of people joined.

I'd join for that deal too. But they would have to have lights I usually don't get to the range until late evening.  It cost $7 for a large bucket at my range but since I've been pretty regular recently and have given some business to the their bike shop I've noticed they've been giving them to me for $5.

Maybe it's me but I can't concentrate if there is some guy next to me spending 20 minutes twisting and bending and doing everything else but hitting the ball. Today the guy next to me had a full bucket and I swear he spent a half hour doing some kind of elaborate warm up routine involving slow motion drills, putting on his shoes, sitting down and having a soda, on and on and on. I was through 30 balls and this guy was still doing the rituals.

I know I should just block it out but can't. I picked up my stuff an moved down the range.I'll admit I'm easily distracted.

 

maybe with a 30 handicap you should worry about your rapid fire away attitude on the range. If someone is so distracting to you, move down range.

I only can't concentrate in two cases, there is a guy with a perfect swing that makes me want to copy or when I am not in a good condition that day. Oh and there is another one, I couldn't concentrate if there is a babe swinging in front of me.

Recently saw a guy leaving the range with a full length closet mirror. Didn't look like an instructor. Wish I saw him coming in so I could see how he used it. The stall dividers were only 2 feet high, max.

maybe with a 30 handicap you should worry about your rapid fire away attitude on the range. If someone is so distracting to you, move down range. 

There is almost zero value in your response. Why did you bother?

A lady and her husband stationed themselves right next to me. She was a complete beginner, and struggled to hit the ball. Well, she got to her driver, then hit it off the toe, and it hit the cage between us. She got a little upset with herself, and I looked up after my shot to see why she was upset? Then I noticed she and her husband arguing over the incident. I told them I didn't even notice it, and that's why there's a mesh metal wall between us. I really didn't notice that time either. So we all continued as we were. She and her husband often go to that range and we're still pretty friendly.

We have little kids at the lower range doing all kinds of noisy things, and I guess I got used to it? These situations have made me a much more solid chipper and putter too!

I wasn't actually a good sport so much as immersed in my own thing in this case. For all I knew, she and or I could have been extremely annoying to the person behind me.

There's a guy who visits the range I go to, he almost always ends up in the stall next to me. After EVERY iron shot he takes a piece of emery cloth/sandpaper and proceeds to rub the face of his iron for a couple of seconds.

it really irritates me so much so that I can't ignore it and block it out, just find it weird!

Now that's what I'm talking about. That is OCD and also seems like a way to wear down the club face.
