6 meals a day will mess with your Ghrelin, the hormone that governs appetite control.

When you eat at regular times each day, you train your glands to secrete Ghrelin at the same time to make you hungry.

Now imagine eating 6 times a day, probably at irregular times because it is too hard to keep track.

Your glands will be confused, secreting Ghrelin in an irregular timing, causing overeating.

Not only that, but your Insulin levels have less downtime, and this will block your fat-burning.

A recent study showing that big meals in the evening is not advantageous compared to having a big breakfast. There is also a lot of data showing that intermittent fasting is highly beneficial.

I know I always feel good when I eat dinner before 7pm and don't make it a huge meal. I can tolerate a big breakfast much better. Its also easier for me to intermittently fast when I eat dinner before 7pm. I tend to break my fast around 9-10am. That makes it 14-16 hours if I eat before 7pm.

Since I've been retired I've changed my eating habits.   I eat breakfast around 7:30 and a bigger lunch/dinner around 2 / 3 pm.   I'm usually good the rest of the night.   If I eat later in the evening it affects my sleep and the way I feel early the next day.

Even when I was working I didn't like to eat a late dinner.   Growing up, my family ate when my dad got home from work around 4:30 pm.   I guess I just continued the practice when I was working.

I grew up hearing for my mom that your brain needs food (energy) to perform effectively, so breakfast was always important growing up. Nowadays, my day starts with a 24 oz homemade smoothie. Yogurt, apple juice, and a berry blend. I feel like this gives my mind and body the energy that it needs to be effective at work. On the weekend, I typically have a full breakfast (protein, carbs, and fruit) which gets me ready for my golf.
