What are everyone's thoughts on those? I'm having an issue with holding off the release of the club through impact and I wonder if my midsize grips could be making the issue worse? Anyone have a similar experience?

the size of the grip is more of a comfort thing.  theres no real rule to it, there are some that feel that a thinner grip helps them release faster, but honestly "release" is something that should just happen. i can flip with a fat grip and a thin grip equally. your issue with "holding off" the release is more likely from other things like poor weight shift forward.

Agree with @colin007, the grip is most likely not the issue with the release. I'd suggest posting a swing video.

The grip size is about comfort and the obviously the size of your hand. Quickie tip that I use: finger tips of you left hand should be touching your palm. If the fingers are "digging" into the palm then the grip is too small, it they aren't touching the grip is too big.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. I'll see if I can get a video to post.

Yes, get the video up. It's a complex issue. What we think might be one thing could be another. My experience is that it is rarely the bow and usually the archer. Yesterday at the range I was continuously pushing my drives straight to the right. Excellent distance but off target. I had someone take a quick video with my cell. My hips were stalling too open at impact. Cause? One had to look no further than set up. Video is valuable. I have a lesson today.

I use jumbo grips.  Whenever I hit someone's club that has small grips, the ball goes left.  I think partly it is that I feel I have to grip tighter to hold on to the club.

A guy gave me his old driver yesterday (Taylormade 580 XD).  Nice driver.  What I like most about it is that it has a Golf Pride CP2 Wrap jumbo grip.  I have Golf Pride Tour Wrap Jumbo grips now, which I really like, but the CP2s blow these away.  My next set of grips will be the CP2s.  Tacky and softer than my current grips.

I have a bit of arthritis in my hands and therefore find the midsize grips to work better for me

I have a fairly regular size grip on my irons. When I bought a new driver this summer, someone talked me into trying the oversize grips. I tried it for while but couldn't adapt to the comfort level of the grip (I started a post about this in the clubs and equipment forum. I changed it back and all is better. Still... I agree with the other comments here.... Fix your swing, and grip for comfort.

for what it's worth, if this helps... Here's the post that I did awhile back about the grip issue...

Hope this helps!
