Curious to find out what 3H and 4H you guys are playing, as well as what shaft you find works best.

What distances are you comfortable with using these clubs?

Only one hybrid. A Titleist 585H 19* X100 steel shaft to replace my 3 iron. It's 1* stronger than the 3iron and a half inch longer so it goes a touch longer than the matching 3. Hit it off the tee on a lot of tight holes and second shots on par 5's. Goes about 225-230 Still keep the 3iron in the closet for those windy days.

I have a Ben hogan 19 deg with a x-100 wood shaft, a Taylor made jet speed 22 degree s flex Fujikuara. My other hybrids not in play are a ladies flex 22 degree burner,a 22 degree burner r flex rescue and a Cleveland mashie 26 degree cut down to a xx flex miazaki shaft.  I find my black cat 6 iron with jumbo max grip in graphite replaces the mashie with more spin and the Ben Hogan is just straighter then the others with extreme accuracy. I'm on the fence with the Jet speed as it's very similar to the ben hogan and I might just find a 3 iron game improvement iron with the right shaft for higher launch and more spin.

I have 7 hybrids but only carry 4.  I have a Callaway X2Hot Pro 2H (16 degree) which I haven't carried since I got my mini-driver, I have the Callaway X2Hot Pro 3H (20 degree) & 4H (23 degree), plus I have the Callaway X2Hot 5 (25 degree) & 6 (28 degree) and a Callaway Big Bertha 7 (32 degree).  And I have a Titleist 910 18 degree 2 hybrid, which has been in storage for about 2 years.

I got the 3H last night and will replace the 4H, as I hit the 5 just about as far as the 4H since they are only 2 degree of loft apart.

I'm using a 14* Nickent 4DX w/Proforce V2 R shaft, comfortable to 200 yds, and a 1st gen. nike covert, set at 19* and a KK stiff, 170 yds. ,to fill the gap to 23* 5 iron

Really don't use a hybrid all that much, so I didn't want to spend the family nest egg on a club I might use 3/4 times a round.  Par 5's and few of the longer par 3's 185+ Is all I use it for.

It's a jet speed 4H 22 degree loft with a GD shaft. Avg distance is anywhere from 180-210.  lately been going thru a bout of shanks with my mid to lower irons so I've been hitting it at 150+. Not the norm, but it has great versatility imho. I can sky this like an 8 iron or I can blister a heater on it.

I use a 7W and 4H, so I'm a little outside your realm.

My 4H is a 22° Cobra FlyZ (3-4H) with a Matrix VLCT Altus 75 gr. Lite shaft. It replaces a 22° Adams V4  4H with a Bassara 60 gr. Regular shaft. With the Adams I often missed left,  but the heavier, lighter flex FlyZ +  Matrix goes farther and straighter. (A fitter matched me up with a heavier, lighter-flex shaft after seeing me hit the Adams. I would have never figured this on my own.)

I hit the Cobra about 180-190 yds.

I will probably do some testing with the FlyZ (now on clearance). I want to see if I can hit the 4-5H version (lofted low to 22°) as far or farther than my current 3-4H. If that's the case, I'll likely buy and play the 4-5H set at 22°, and re-set my current 3-4H to 19°.

Focus, connect and follow through!

    • Day 27 (7 Dec 25) - Got in a few swings with 9i and hard foam balls in backyard.  Setup weight fwd (rebuilt left foot really lets me feel the weight in a slightly painful way) - kept the backswing to around 9 o’clock focusing on contact and resulting divot pattern.  Like how the hard foam balls come off the face (almost like real balls in sound).  A good abbreviated session as I only able to hit about a dozen balls in the fading light.
    • Day 117 12-7 A bit of chipping practice today. Full swing- hit some real balls to see where Im at.
    • Not the part I was replying to: Handicaps did not go down much (like 0.14 on average IIRC?) when we went from 10/20*0.96 to 8/20. And a good chunk of that was from the +s.
    • I think he meant in the UK. The old system was completely different from the new one. 10/20 x 0.96 vs 8/20 would really only impact very low handicaps I think. The 0.96 serves to increase differentials for plus differentials, where 8/20 vs 10/20 works to lower differentials for all. I don't know many plus golfers who would be upset that their index got lower. A lot of really good players don't even really keep their handicaps up-to-date. They're much more interested in their WAGR rankings which get them entries to certain events.
