  • 1 year later...

Seeing other guys with multiple sets makes me feel a little better.  I've been on a tear lately, finding some older sets for dirt cheap at Golf Galaxy

Mizuno MX-23 3-pw with Dynalite Gold S300s

Taylormade R7 4-GW with TT Black Gold Stiff

Nike VRS_Forged 4-GW with Nippon 950 Pro HT Stiff

Cleveland CG16 Tour 3-SW with TT Dynamic Gold S300

Ping i5 3-PW with ZZ65s

Adams CB2 6-GW with TT Dynamic Gold S300

I don't have too much of an issue swapping between them so far, most except the Nike are D1-D2 weight so they feel similar.  The CG16 are noticeably shorter then the others with more traditional lofts, but others are about the same.

2. That's only because I haven't sold the old ones.

I play one set and one set only. Don't know you you can play more than one and find any consistency in your game.

Another reason to make me get rid of two sets? Eventually the burners and the PING i15 clubs will have to go. I like the Cleveland cg tour better. I hit 3/4 as far with them, but they feel good and hit very consistent.

Currently I have

TM Burner 2.0 4-gw stiff

Adams CB2 4-gw with KBS Tour 90 shafts

Titlesist AP1 712 with S300 shafts.

TM's are for sale because I just don't hit them well. I rotate back and forth between the other two sets. I'd have more probably but I can't justify it, I just like irons.

I wish this question had not been posed, but it's obvious after performing an inventory check, that I have a mild addiction to turn of the millennium irons.  Here's my list:

  1. Taylor Made Midsize Burners (3-PW, steel, first iron set, gave them away to charity)
  2. Taylor Made LCG (3-PW, steel, gave them away to charity)
  3. Callaway X-12 (3-PW, steel) - personal favourite
  4. Callaway X-14 (3-PW, steel)
  5. Callaway Big Bertha 2002 (3-PW, steel)
  6. Callaway X-16 (3-PW, steel)
  7. Cleveland TA7 (3-PW, steel) - very close second personal favourite, but gave them to charity
  8. Callaway Big Bertha 2006 (4-SW, steel)

If anyone knows that name of a good shrink, I'm interested.

John.

    • Day 297: putted for about 25 minutes, working on 30 foot putts. Then went and hit balls for about an hour, just focused on getting the ball to go where I want it. Not my best session, but figured it out better at the end.
    • I do use a 7 wood. Love it! Do have a specific question about 7 woods?
    • @DrizZzY does. 😄
    • does anybody still use a 7 wood? if not what do you use instead>
    • Day (2 May 24) - somehow I missed posting both Tues and Weds practice sessions - so the streak ends and a new one begins…. Focus today was on ball first contact using the Divot Board for reference.   Worked with 7i, 9i and GW hitting hard foam balls.  Started hap hazardly and then settled back into my pre-shot setup.  Much more consistent in the latter.
