Boy does the touch go haywire when you don't play much... I shot 44 for nine. I just need to practice more. Driving was good, irons sucked, short game was ok. I took about a week off from practicing. I just needed a break.

Played 18 holes, worked on some right elbow things.

Didn't play great, but, didn't care about the short stuff.

2.32 mile walk/jog followed by a swim. Worked on slow mo backswings. Added a small thing, trying to keep the left arm straighter.

Got creative this evening. Had to skim the pool, so I gripped the pool skimmer like a golf club and made swinging motions through the water.

9/16/16:

Played 18 holes today. Shot 45-43=88. The front nine I couldn't buy a putt. Knocked an 8-iron pretty much stiff on 2 and made par. Nearly DROVE the 350-yard 5th (it was downwind, tee was up about 15 yards, but I flushed that drive), and made par (was maybe 35 feet from the hole off the tee, was too bold with the eagle putt) Nutted another drive on 6, under a tree that you can't see from the tee, made bogey, was behind a tree off the tee on 7 and 8. (hit about 170 yard 8-iron downwind, I usually don't hit it that far on 7, hit it good off of 8 right behind the base of the tree did well to make bogeys). Hit a good drive on 9 that ran through the fairway behind another tree made 6 after a good lay-up to 135 (duffed an 8-iron). Made 5 at 10 Driver, 7-iron, Gap wedge, 2 putts. Parred 11 routinely. Caught a tree on my second shot on 12 and my third and made bogey. Hit a good drive at 13, blocked a 6-iron from 165 under a tree, did well to make 5, hit a bullet to 115 yards on 14 right behind a tree. Pulled a wedge and made another bogey. Good drive in the right semi on 15. Hit a gap wedge slightly left and short sided, made another bogey. I hit a pretty good 4-hybrid pin high right on 16, misjudged my chip and run and made bogey. Actually hit a very nice tee shot on 17, a good wedge to 20 feet and two putted for par. Hit a low cut off the tee on 18 that wasn't terrible, just left me 230 yards to the hole. Tried to hit 3-hybrid and blocked it right. The pitch caught a thin branch on the way through and killed it, three putts from the fringe later I walk off with a double bogey 6 and an 88. I spent 7 holes behind trees or more today.

I am not trying to backdate anything but I was on a golf trip this weekend with no cell phone reception so here is my stuff from the last 3 days

9/16 - played 18 and shot pretty well.  I was really stroking the irons with a perfect draw.  Really working on keeping the spine til and rotation correct.  I won 2 closest to the pin shots both within 8 feet and put them both in.  Final scores were 38-41 for 79

9/17 - played 27 today.  shot about the same as yesterday but left some putts short.  I did get the longest drive and hit the driver very well all day.  Hitting the greens but not quite as close as the day before.  I was really working on putting and spine tilt along with working on a little slower take away to smooth out my tempo.  Shot 42-42-43 for 127.

9/18 - Scramble today for 18 holes.  Played pretty poorly but had some nice shots.  Still drawing and striking irons well but the drives were a bit off.  Because it was a scramble, I saw it all as practice but I really focused on putting.  I spent about 20 minutes working on 6-12 foot putts before the round and it kinda payed off as I sunk a few of the birdie putts we had

I worked on my tweener yardages with my wedges today. I suck at golf so it doesn't matter.

Unintentionally took a few days off from practicing. After my 91 last Sunday, I think some of the pressure to "fix things" has been lifted as I could probably find 5 or 6 strokes and get down around 85 if my chipping and putting had been better, but I don't see my score getting much lower until I can rely on my fairway woods the same way I rely on my irons now.

Played today and shot a 96 (48/48). Good drives for a change. I missed right with my irons a bit more than usual, but contact was nice and crisp all day.

9/19 - Some putting in my basement but mostly workout with torso rotation and core.  Chipped around the backyard for a few minutes this morning with the 50 degree wedge rather than the 60 to see how it reacts out of thicker grass

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
