TOUR Championship in East Lake GC, Atlanta, GA • Purse: $8,500,000 and a big $10MM prize on hand. That is a big payday for someone.

Im not going to have much time to watch this weekend. But does anyone else find east lake a anti-climactic end to the tour season? It seems like such a boring course from a layout POV. No memorable holes.

I feel it is more that the PGA doesn't promote it enough. Players can make any course memorable.

I find it very interesting that we have had the year of ______ the last 3 years. First Rory, then Speith...if DJ can cap off the year with a Win this week, I think it will be the year of DJ. Either way, top 30 guys on tour are playing this week. The only way Im not watching on Sunday is if the Tampa Bay Bucs are on TV in the mid west, which is highly doubtful. Saturday is Florida vs Tenn so I wont be watching much golf.

Pulling for Rory in this one for sure.  Not sure how the Fedex points stack, but if he wins this and wins the 10,000,000 this will further his legacy as one of the all time greats, and he is only 27.....

If DJ can win this would really put a fat ! to cap off his season.  (I don't acknowledge the wraparound).

What is this Legacy you speak of ?

27 years old tied for 20th all time in Majors with 4.

2 Vardon Trophies

2 Player of the year

2 Byron Nelson Awards

3 Order of Merit

13 Euro Wins

12 PGA wins

20th all time in earning at  $32,563,996

Ernie Els made the hall of fame with 19 wins and 4 majors.  I think making the hall of fame, categorizes your career as a living legacy.  What Rory is doing now is story book type fiction.  Winning the US Open by 8 strokes demolishing the field to start his career off, ~22 years old then.  Then you have the bet with his father and winning the British to secure the bet for pops.

He will secure the hall of fame by the age of 30.  (Not saying he will be inducted then but his accolades at that point will have been enough).

Worse case IMO 1 more major and 6 wins.  5 majors and 17 wins is ridiculous.

Top 20 is half as good as top 10. Different Legacy

Rory is a fantastic player. Shoo-in for HOF. But he's still got to earn his way to legendary status. When he has 6 Majors and ~ 40 worldwide wins, he'll have earned very special status.

In the bolded part above you are included events that are already counted in his PGA wins column. He has 12 PGA wins, 7 non-cross sanctioned Euro wins, and 3 Asian/Australian wins. He's not quite legendary yet, but he definitely has the talent to be.

Both are different leagues and should be broken out seperately.  The intent wasn't to aggregate the wins into 25, but to state how many wins he has in each league.  Of course majors and WGC's transfer over into each league.

I was under the impression my audience would of easily picked up on that and not require an explanation.....

Yes different leagues in general competitiveness / depth of fields: Majors, top shelf full-field PGA events (TPC e.g.), WGCs, European Events, Asian-Australasian.

By not indicating the number of 'official' Euro wins that were cross-sanctioned and already included in the PGA wins total how would anyone possibly be able to guess the relative number of cross-sanctioned events in either group? It actually does require an explanation, or at least more info.

Rory, again stepping up after a deflating front 9.......  If he could just put together one full round this week he could catch Johnson.

Hats off the Johnson.

Another ball movement penalty appears to be in play.

What player/hole was it? (So I can pay attention on the replay)
