I strained my arm and can't play golf for the rest of the season.  It's literally the "Doctor, my arm hurts when I move it like this... Then don't move it like that!" strain.

I shouldn't have played today but it was such a nice evening that I went out and hacked around nine holes.  The course was empty behind me and slow in front of me, so I took a bunch of pictures.

The attached has to be my favorite.

Enjoy and I hope you all enjoy whatever golf you have left before the snow flies!

You live in an extraordinarily attractive part of New York. Rest your body, enjoy Autumn and come back next year strong.  On the other hand, you may recover more quickly than expected and have some golf left in 2016!;-)

Thanks!  The mid-term weather forecasts have been contradictory, some say a warm fall, some say a cold fall with early snow.  However, the other night, we had a thunderstorm, and as the saying goes, "thunder in fall, no winter at all".

Thanks!  The leaves are just starting to turn so it's still mostly green around here but we're getting some color.  Looking at these pictures it's hard to believe that a couple months ago most of those fairways were brown from drought.

As for the arm, the doctor says it's a long-term recovery and there's not much to do but mild arm exercises and not doing things to exacerbate it like... ya know... golfing.  Fortunately, as I said, it only hurts when I do certain things.

Snow? What are you talking about?

It's a yearly ordeal that keeps us in the house, not golfing, and regularly reminds us of our mortality as our car slides uncontrollably into trees, telephone poles, or the car in front of us.

That sounds horrible.

I feel - or felt - your pain for about five weeks this summer, and it took a steroid pack to help make it go away.

(Secret for me: do not let right hand take over swing)

Pain aside, I really liked your pictures. Did you use any lens filter or app filter? The blue sky and clouds really snapped out dramatically in the "ball on the fringe" and "tee shot slot" frames.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Thanks!  I used an app called "pro HDR camera". I don't think I did any other processing after I got home.  My phone does HDR on its own but it's somewhat limited.  The app works really well and has sliders to adjust the image after the fact.  I think it cost four dollars.

Definitely some awesome pics. Looks like an older course which is my favorite. It has that feeling of walking back in time. Here's to a speedy recovery and an easy winter.

Thanks!  The course was started in 1969 and has at least one original member still playing.
