11/16 - kettle bell swings for balanced weight shift reinforcement this morning for a few minutes.

11/17 - ^^^^^ in addition to weight shift, focused on steady head. When done, I used 9i for 5-8 mins to do the same.

Still burned up about the 4 three-putts yesterday. I've gotta get better with 35-50' lags

11/17- mirror work focusing on back of left wrist vs. club face. Did backswings focusing mainly on where the wrist should be, with awareness of how the club face was aligning at the top. Range tomorrow, and I think I can make a decent video with better position at the top. Previously my left wrist has been erratic. Lots of cupping.

15 min alt Sklz gold and driver with hat tucked under right armpit. Hard to believe any power with this swing. Seems more defined in terms of swing but not entirely convincing. Followed up with 5 min of 7 iron. Some gratifying thumping on carpeted wood floor but not enuf and worries about trashing floor

20 min alt Sklz and driver, then 7 iron. Continued to put hat under right arm pit to encourage inside out swing.  Getting a bit more normal

tomorrow I travel for holiday and will be away from home all week so I have to find a way to practice without clubs to keep inside-out routine alive. Suggestions?

11/18- Video practice at range. Slow motion but still struggling to do the seemingly simple things my instructor is telling me to do. Still cupping at the top, and erratic wrist conditions at impact- sometimes wide open, sometimes too closed, etc. Will just submit next vids, even if no progress. Should be able to get out next week, temps in 50s.

Happy Birthday @NatalieB!

Thanks. She's 14 now.

I took her to the cemetery and let her drive the Smart car. I figured anybody she could hit would already be dead. ;-)

She's been driving carts so long it was totally fine.

Still practicing my hip turn and paying attention to sway and right-hip position. Draw is still present but is quite erratic at times. Seems to get more predictable and easier to control when I think about proper wrist, hand, and clubface position going back. It's hard to fight the urge to work on controlling it, so I switch to chipping practice before I start getting off track.

Playing 18 tomorrow. Going to try and get a good warm-up session in and then just focus on making shots when I play.

Completed a 20 min swing session alternating Sklz swing trainer and driver, with right arm holding hat. Inside swing feels better, still unsure how this will go with a ball.

Switched to Sklz and 7 iron and had to stop. When I get swing right, club thumps floor too hard. Will have to find a space outside

next 7 days, i practice swings with no Sklz, no driver, no club at all. Maybe i can find a broom at my brother's house.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
