  1. 1. Is there someone out there you’d really relish beating on the golf course?

My neighbor/friend/co-worker is most definitely my golf nemesis;

We'll play 35-40 rounds together a year at our club and we keep track of medal play matches between us.  We are both similar handicaps, but he has got a lot better over the past 2 years which has given him a lot of confidence.  2016 showed well in my favour, I finished 19 wins, 12 losses, 5 ties.  It always in good fun and we actually enjoy the rivalry, we both think it makes us play better.  I recently started a new job at the same institution as my golf nemesis and I took an early lead in 2016.  This allowed me to gloat a little to our co-workers.  He then went on to wallop me 3 rounds in a row and photocopied and emailed the scorecards to all of the fellow golfers in the office.  This lead to me getting a dry-erase board to show our head-to-head record for the entire office to see,  our boss loved it and our co-workers were always asking when we're playing next.  He recently took a different job elsewhere, so the dry-erase board has been retired, but I'll still occasionally keep the office informed about our record in 2017. :content:

I'm beginning to obtain a new golf nemesis, called "TST - Fantasy Golf"
It's devastating beyond ones imagination, that some Top World players are getting their butts kicked.

Yes, one fellow I used to play with regularly with from the neighborhood.  He always kept his own score to himself, then asked me after the round what I carded.  He always seem to shoot one stroke better.

You shot a 73? Close, but I shot a 72. :-P

Good friend of mine.  Starting 3 years ago, we've finished every season playing the "Paskin Challenge for the Giraffe of Shame Trophy."  36 hole, overall match-play.  The loser takes home this awful looking wooden giraffe to look at all year long, but also gets to "engrave" it with a sharpie and message of their choosing.  Can't wait to see what this thing looks like in 10 years...or even next year since it's currently in his possession :banana:.

Welp, another year and another Paskin Challenge in the books with a 3rd straight victory for your truly!  We included our other 2 buddies this time, so we changed it from 36-hole match play to 36-hole net stroke play.  The Giraffe of Shame was actually decided after the first 18 as the best player of the four of us had a tough first round and decided to go home rather than go around again...so he's getting some extra shame with an official "DNF" haha.

With 4 of us now playing, we decided to order a championship belt for the overall winner to take home.  Can't wait to sport that thing during our next round as my entire game just clicked over the weekend and I blew the doors off those guys for the first time all year!  I'll post a picture when it comes in :-D.

P.S. - didn't want to start a new thread for this but apologize for bumping an old one here.

- Bill

    • It’s simple. Hook it onto the tee box of the adjacent hole. Get a GIR with your approach. Birdie hole. #5 Hook it to the adjacent fairway Hit green with next shot. Birdie hole. I call it the Bill Method.
    • I’ll have to pay attention more attention to the area when I’m there. I know the area to the left of the bunkers off the tee is fescue/native vegetation but I can’t remember what’s around the tee boxes. Something to consider still is that you can’t see the green from the tee. You can’t even see all three bunkers IIRC. So I could have a line on the drive but still not know where it ends up. I think I’d be a lot more comfortable going with driver if I played here more regularly and had a log in my head of where shots tend to end up like I do at the other county courses. I have never hit driver on this hole off the blue tees. I have done it from the gold, but the length and angle are different, and during casual rounds when I didn’t care that much about score. I’m not sure the best time to try it is the second hole of a tournament. Or at the very least, I’m uncomfortable with the idea and that’s probably enough reason not to do it. I see what you’re saying. Wind is supposed to be pushing out more to the right on Saturday, too. I could probably aim right at the bunker and not end up in it. I don’t think there’s anything near the green other than that tiny bunker that would give me trouble. Well, trouble in addition to my short game deficiencies that is. Yea, me too. All I’m thinking is get it in play, put it near the green, chip on and two putt for 5. I’ll have plenty of opportunities to use my length as an advantage later. You realize all of this theory crafting will be moot when I chunk it off the tee, right? 😆
