Did anyone else see this article? It seems this kid has made himself out to be the god of all that is golf. It's good to see some young guns coming up to challenge the top guys on the PGA Tour, but come on, show a little humility. He sounds like Phil Helmuth to me.

Yeah, hopefully he is paired with Tiger and Tiger just rips him apart.

Yeah, I saw the article. The kid is brash and a bit on the cocky side, but i think it's good for the game overall. We know Tiger's at a whole different level then everyone else, but it's good to see people push him. You remember Gerald Wallace, the Cleveland Cavaliers acclaimed Jordan-stopper. He was brash and talked alot of game, but Jordan took it to a whole other level and ripped him to shreds. LeBron talks about himself in the third person. So does Vince Young and Reggie Bush. The point is, regardless of what he's saying, we're talking about it, and we're going to want to see what the he and Tiger are both made of. Call it arrogance. Call it confidence. Call it cockiness. I call it good entertainment. Tiger and MJ have the same competitive drive, so we would expect nothing less from Tiger.

He's only 19! Something would be wrong if he didn't think he could conquer the world at that age.

I got him in my Fantasy Pool injured wrist and all. Let's just hope his bite's as his bad as his bark. (unlike some other angry little men on tour) I think Old Tiger needs to be taken down a peg or two every once in awhile I loved when VJ did it to him I think its good for the game.

I don't know if he's really trying to be Cocky or confident in his ability to be number one someday, he's not the first kid to come out and say they want to be #1 in the world someday. We live in a different era now where Kids are told from a very young age you are the best and can compete at the highest level. Look at all the youth on tour now that has that same attitude. Anthony Kim, Rory Sabbatini ,( we know his deal) Sergio, etc. Let's see how this plays out once the season starts it's one thing to say something to a reporter with a note pad, and another when tiger is playing in your group with 30,000 people following your every move.

He's 20 by now, but still younger than last year's youngest rookie. But, IIRC, Anthony Kim was reasonably humble around Tiger, saying something about Nike not having put his initials on things... yet. And he beat Rory in the size of belt-buckle contest, I think.

Is he joining Nike staff? Seems the last two years, someone on Nike staff picked a fight with Tiger and lost.

Jason rocks, go ahead be cocky. You need to gain confidence somehow. Tiger said he likes to not only beat the competition, but drive them into the ground. How would that sound if he weren't number 1?

I saw an interview with him last night and he said who doesn't have the goal of being number one whether it takes five, ten, or twenty years.

He also said that whenever he gets to meet Tiger the first thing he is going to do is shake his hand and thank him for motivating him when he was younger to become the golfer he is today. He said that he owes a lot to him for the postive influence.

"I can't say for sure, but I think he is," Day says. "If I was him, I would be. I watch everyone. He watches a lot of golf. He has so much time. He played 16 events -- what does he do with his time? He'd be aware of me. He'd be saying, 'Here's another kid coming up.'"

come on....you dont challenge the best when you havent accomplished anything in the big leagues. let your clubs do the talking like woods did. he didnt become the best by saying he was the best. he proved he was the best by winning tournement after tournement. its rory jr.

Of course I sure hope someone comes along to really challenge Tiger.

I can give the same response here as I have regarding Rory Sabbatini, Woody Austin, and so on:

I'm all in favor of speaking one's mind. I'm in favor of having confidence.

Just don't cross the line into "StupidLand," please.

Another case of "damned if you damned if you don't." If he says my goals are to make the cut and hopefully make finish in the top 125, he's vanilla and boring. If he says that he's out to win a major, become number one and dethrone Tiger, he's "brash", "cocky", "out of his place."

You have to aim high to achieve success. I have no problem with him focusing attention on himself. It may be what drives him.

He is good. There is no doubting that.

He will have to learn that there is a (as a professional sportsman) fine line between confidence and cocky'ness.

Tiger has always been a confident golfer. And has never looked like crossing that line.

Word of a wise, too much confidence CAN bring you down...harder.

Aiming high is totally fine, but it's not it when you say, "I can take him (Tiger) down." That's called arrogance.

To be honest, Jason isn't even in the same league as Tiger. To make such a comment, he is indeed a cocky punk.

    • Going to a Friendsgiving tomorrow and I am bringing a no-bake cheesecake. I make the crust too big, but I think it turned out good. The filling is really good.
    • Sure, but how was your alignment? 🙂 Day 53 - 2024-11-22 Mirror work after getting back home. Wife is a superstar for her career/job/whatever.
    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
    • Day 128: played 9. Nice little even 9, with 2 birdies and 2 bogeys.
    • @DeadMan, I think your approach makes sense. As @dennyjones said, consistency is the key.
