July 31

Practiced putting indoors from 4-8 feet.  Felt good, getting more consistent ball striking but need to develop better feel on longer putts.  Will also try to hit 54 and 58 degrees wedges into chipping target if I can squeeze it in.

I have completed the July Challenge and wish to claim my award!

7/31/17:

Worked on irons today. Mostly trying to stay on plane and in-line impact. After yesterday, I realized this is a glaring weakness that needs to be addressed.

This completes the July practice challenge for me.

(I did miss one day due to my internet at home beinh repaired)

You've all got it. Thanks.

Even though I did not succeed for July, I wanted to post today's practice anyway

Went to the range, small bucket, outdoors, grass, with ball.  Worked on hitting slowly.  Tomorrow will be faster, as I'm playing Wed-Thurs.  I will try to take video tomorrow of my slow practice swings so we (collectively, whoever wants in) can determine how slow my slow swings are and whether I'm achieving the slow down.  I think that's the biggest thing I learned about practice this month:  that I was deluding myself about part of my practice routine, and hopefully I improve on that going forward.

Do not give me the achievement as I missed two days.  This post was because I want to continue posting my practices as they happen.

I'm so bummed.  I posted 30 of the 31 one days and forgot 7/31.  I returned from a 4 day golf trip to Kokanee Springs in BC, Canada and took the kids to Silverwood,  a local amusement park.  I fully intended to do my 5 minutes of practice but completely forgot until this morning.  :-(  Back to the drawing board and I will try again this month.  Local Amateur tournament this weekend... 54 holes.

    • I do not follow amateur or Korn Ferry tour but this story might get me to pay attention. At age 15 to be as accomplished as he is makes me think we may be seeing a future star.  A story of him breaking out may help reinvigorate golf viewership. • Day 8: Indoor backswing work, mostly rehearsals of takeaway. Hit some balls wtih 6-iron working on adding flow, but not too Much which I tend to do, swaying too far away from target.
    • Day 55: 4/18/2024 Got to the range again today. Planned to do my priority pieces and then hit targets with irons. But after my priority pieces I hit a few drives and tugged them all hard left. .... Uh... oh boy.  So, I spent about a half hour trying to hit targets at the range with my driver.
