Week 3 Day 4 - the offseason journey continues

S&C morning, 48 minutes.

Utilized SKLZ Tempo Grip Trainer, SKLZ Gold Flex, Izzo arm band, alignment stick.  Kept left handed swinging in as well and plan on building on that.  Did lateral lunges and forward lunges, getting better at these as well core work.  Lot's of stretching and my usual neck PT work.

Plan on adding a session after work hitting off of the my wife's new golf matt.  If I get that done I will add it in

Day 335

Lesson today. Worked on getting better depth in the backswing, and a lot on tempo. Got a new drill to practice tempo to try and overcome my tendency to rush into transition before finishing the turn.

Day 6.  More carpet putting, but without an improvement over yesterday.  I have mixed feelings about this.

Day 336

Did my new tempo drill today with backswing changes from last lesson. Hit 10 balls with a 3-count at the top, then 10 balls with a 2-count at the top, and then 10 more with a 1-count at the top. Finally hit 10 balls without a count at the top, but focusing on having patience to not start transition before backswing is done.

Day 1

I decided to re-join this challenge!!

Spent two hours on the putting green.  Did 5 drills:

  1. 100 in a row from 3 feet.
  2. 100 (but not in a row) from 6 feet.  I was making these at better than an 80% clip.
  3. One ball from 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 feet.  Measure the total distance from the cup to where the balls end up. 12 feet today
  4. Aaron Baddeley Drill. Count how many balls it take to put three balls from 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 feet into a 3 circle around the hole.  18 today.
  5. 4 of 7 which is a Mark Sweeney (creator of Aimpoint) Drill.  Spread 7 balls randomly around the hole covering the distance between 2 and 15 feet.  The goal is to make 4 of those.  I made 4.

Spent an additional 2 hours practicing chipping from 1 to 15 feet off the green.  Hit chips with left hand only on the club, right hand only on the club and 2 hands on the club.  I used both a 7 and 8 iron for this drill.  The goal with each chip is to end up within 5 feet of the hole.  The chips were 60-75 feet.  I have a STONG tendency to flip at the bottom, so I am trying to work on a new motor pattern.  Working on this shot has been a regular part of my practice for the last 5 months.

Day 320 - November 13, 2020

I hit some balls downtown after meeting someone for a membership thing and before one of my juniors showed up to talk about his winter plan(s).

Day 7.  Since I'm away, it must be carpet putting.  And it is!  A bit better today, including hitting a ball with another one (which tells me I got the same line after the ruler).

Day 2   I began by doing a putting drill titled, 3-4-5.  It involves setting up four tees at 3 feet around the hole... in a North-South-East-West pattern.  You have to make 3 putts in a row from a location to move to the next.  If you miss at that location you count the miss and still have to make 3 in a row to move to the next location. Once you have accomplished this from 3 feet, you move the tees back to 4 feet and eventually 5 feet.  I missed a total of 3 putts.  While the goal is 0, scores of 1-3 are solid.  The attached picture is of my set up for this drill.

Then I headed over to the range, warmed up and did the Super Speed Stick Protocol 1.  Followed by almost 20 different drills from the book, "How to Train for Golf Like and Olympian."  Each of the drills takes 8 minutes to accomplish... and in that time period you hit about 1 ball per minute...with lots of slow and practice swings in between hitting balls.

Day 337

Did more tempo drill, this time with some longer clubs as I tend to rush more with these. Did it with 7-iron, hybrid, and driver today.

(Self note:  what would have been Day 8, yesterday, 11/14, counts as a miss.  I practiced -- got to an outdoor range, even, and got video for evolvr, but I didn't post here about it, so it counts as a miss)
