Day 97, February 5, 2022

Worked on the GEARS for quite awhile today. Another 30+ swings. Worked mostly on the downswing.

Day 21:

Hit balls outside today. Focused on priority piece with pre shot routine rehearsals, but the intent of hitting balls was just to get in a rhythm and find the ball after basically not hitting any balls all week. Back is feeling good, so I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s round and practice next week.

Day 22:

Played 18 this morning. Just happy I didn't re-tweak my upper back/shoulder/neck. Started really poorly, +12 after 4 holes but finished with an 89 so the rest of the round was decent.

Day 60 (06 Feb 22) - Worked on "slowing the tempo" of the backswing while hitting easy shots in the back yard.  Used counting "one and a two and a three" to help slow things down where "one and a two and" are the backswing and "a three" are the downswing.  Made for more controlled swing.

I did the putting challenge again too. But I wasn't able to beat my best. I tried a half dozen times.

Just putting today. Day 15 of the Covid-19 practice plan.

Day 33: Back to mirror work today. Still on set up - hips over my heels and knees bent. It’s possible that I can get to the range this week!

Day 469: Range today. Even with the heater, it was cold. Worked on backswing pieces first with a couple of clubs including driver. Then worked on transition feel. Then worked on setup and aim with short irons and wedges. Finished with some flow drill work.

Day 61 (07 Feb 22) - Rainy day Monday, so worked on putting tempo today and getting consistent lag under varied roll conditions.  Also worked on full swing setup - getting weight forward, pre-loading the lead side slightly.

I did my usual mirror work. 
First without a club, then with pvc, and finally with the club. 

Later on I did my favorite two putting drills. The are basically 2 different versions of the gate drill. 

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs. 

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

      Day 133 (25 Apr 24) - Worked with the Divot Board today added a piece of cardboad behind the ball to help reinforce ball first contact. Contact improved through the round.   Added grandson's football goal posts about 10yds out to add a good start line visual Good session today.

      He plays from 68.3 / 124.  A combo tee setup of normal mens and seniors.   I play from 69.7/127.   He left after taking a triple on 14 and then leaving.  Which plays to what I think his plan is,   He doesn’t stroke on 14 but would have to take bogey for non completed holes on the way in.   Maybe that’s giving him too much credit, but he found a way to add 4 shots to his score over three holes so….     I looked up his last 20 rounds in GHIN and he has a lot of rounds at easier courses (rating and slope) that are higher than his normal rounds at home.   Since I mostly have his front nine score during the match (36) to go on, he has three nine hole scores at our course posted that are 41-43. I wrote the whole thing up to the head of our golf association who runs all the tournaments.  Our pro is not involved officially in the tournaments because the golf associations are separate from the club.   He’s pretty well known for this, however I was pretty shocked at how well he played carrying a 15.   I think eventually they will do something, a lot of people have complained.  The golf association threw someone out a couple of years ago and it was a three month situation where the guy retaliated.  They probably are hesitant to go thru anything like that again.  That is a rather crazy story I might post about later.
