Day 265

Superspeed workout and more work on my priority piece with slow 7-iron swings. The feel that was working well seems to have gone dead so I’m a bit lost at the moment. Going to film and email teacher tomorrow and see how I’ve progressed. Lesson next week, so it’ll get sorted out soon regardless.

Day 75.  Some combination of 12 holes of match play (I "won," 1 up) and "let's hit balls, but on the course."  Of course, I focused on my usual for my swings, but without the wall drill available on the course.  I hit some very good shots today on a golf course, although the goal wasn't really on keeping score or even following the usual rules (like picking a tee box consistently).

This was at a private course where a friend of mine is a member;  we got onto the course with a few hours before sundown, after work, to play what we could.

Day 24

Did an hour on the range and finally got some slo-mo video too post on my swing thread but when I upload it to YouTube it shows up in regular speed (Iphone x). If anyone knows how to fix this please pm me so as not to derail this thread.

Day 42

Went to the Practice Area and focused solely on Wedges. Went thru all the wedges on full swing.  Then I spent time hitting my pitching wedge using my putter swing.  I am really liking this approach from the fairways on short shots up to 80 yards.  It is accurate and really no fat shots.

Day 249 - Sept 2, 2020

Played the hell-day (pin position) pro-am scramble at Kahkwa today. 18 holes, and a lot of coaching the other four players…

Day 31:  Played 9 holes this morning.  Not the best round ever.  Kind of a reality check after the weekend I had with the driver.  I thought I had found something that was working.  The problem was not knowing exactly what it was.  Also missed a couple 3-4 foot putts.  Good news was the short game was good today.

Day 76.  Played match play with a friend, 16 holes (stopped due to lack of light).  Was up by 4 with 2 holes to go when we stopped (we were more keeping track of up/down than a strict match play).  Overall score with ESC and the two missed holes posted appropriately was an 88 on a tough course -- a great outing!

Day 266

Decided to turn my practice session into a workout. Warmed up with some 7-iron 9-3 swings focusing on priority piece. Then hit about 50 balls as hard as I could with a full backswing. Cooled off with some partial wedge shots and pitching practice, about another 50 balls.

Day 25

Probably TMI but I did a very light session today since I'm in prep for a Colonoscopy tomorrow. If I pull off practice tomorrow I'll be surprised. Maybe some mirror work since I will be in the bathroom most of the day 😂

Focus today was just on getting to the top and trying to get to A5 and A6 on plane. Lots of focus on my weight shift since I tend to fall down with my head towards the ball a bit.

Day 32:  Went to the short game practice facility in a nearby suburb.  Worked chips, pitches, and sand shots.  Threw a few flops in there too.

Day 42

Great range session.  Focused on PW, 48*, 52* & 56* wedges. All at full swing then half swing with each. Finished with PW using putter swing for pitching.

Then I went to the launch monitor and hit my 5 wood and Driver.  The Driver is getting more and more consistent.

Superspeed session, and then same thing as yesterday, but with driver. Got swing speed up to 115, while making decent strikes.

Day 77.  Played 18 after work with a friend.  Shot an 87, which is very good for the course I played.  I had to play the 18th in the dark, and laid up on a par-4 because I wanted to know if I had carried the water and wouldn't be sure in the lack of daylight.  Five sixes, including on a par-3, and still shot an 87.

Day 7 - Played 9. Putting was garbage, short game was inconsistent, driver was off. Scorecard was mostly pars and doubles, not ideal. Scramble tomorrow morning, hope I can be our “safe drive” guy. Not sure after today...

Day 26

Managed to get in a 10 minute practice this morning. Did 50% swings focusing solely on an exagerated feel at the start of the downswing to get the club more on plane. It looked great on film. The plan is to repeat this for a few days and then slowly up the speed to see if I can get it to stick in my full swing.

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
    • Day 136 12-26 Had a different practice planned today but life happened. Worked on "wide to wide" and still working on remaining flowy. Starting the club head in front of the ball as a drill, is helping with the flow of the swing.
