Day 8: Spent a lot of time at the club today.

Spent 30 focused minutes doing slow backswings focused on turning and staying in posture. It is surprisingly hard to do it the right way even when going slow.

Took 27 balls to hit the target about 70 yards from the tees. It's frustrating to hit a good one, have it land a hard before the target, then see it roll under. Only a clang counts.

I hit a few drivers just to swing it after doing so much focused work with my 8 iron.

Then went and did my chipping game, getting my best 5 foot radius score so far.

Day 16 (18 Jan 23) - Continued work on the grip focused primarily on the left (lead) hand, also worked on Day 28 of the Covid 19 Practice Plan where I had a stick locked behind my back and worked on rotating into the backswing thru to finish, focused on keeping the stick along the sight line.

Day 31 - Nice day today so I spent about 20 minutes hitting short (7 to 15 yard) wedge shots in the yard with my 59* wedge. My intention was to make good contact (not easy off winter turf in the yard) and hit a landing area.

Day 49: 1/18/2023

I've been hitting a lot of balls lately. Many in slow motion, many with focuses on my priority pieces. So, today I just did mirror work. But I did it often. Several times during the day I walked over to the mirror and worked on making backswings without moving my head so much. Basically sticking my right hip into an imaginary wall and then spinning my chest up the wall. I did it without a club, I did it with a piece of PVC pipe and a split grip, I did it with a club.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 17 (19 Jan 23) - Weather breaks (temps in the 60's today in Eastern NC) - so my son and I opt to play 18 at Minnesott.   Used the easy pace to focus on the grip and setup and staying in the "routine" on each shot.  The grip change still feels a little "odd" but seeing better results across the bag reinforces that I am on a better ball striking track.  My son even noted that I was drawing the ball more consistently.  Now to make the grip process more or less "automatic" so that it just becomes what I do in the pre-shot setup.

Day 9: Very short on time due to work. Just wanted the club in my hands for a bit so I worked for 5 minutes on grip and setup in the mirror.

Day 50: 01/19/2023

I had big plans to do a lot today. Unfortunately my work stuff heated up and I had to stomp out about a million fires. So, all I got to do was mirror work. More of the head still, hip into the wall, spin your ribs up the wall drill in front of the mirror.
I got to do it without a club, with PVC and with a 7 iron. So that's good. Not all of what I wanted, but better than nothing.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

Went downtown early to get my TheraCane thing. So, practiced early for 15 minutes today.

Day 20: went to a simulator for an hour. Played 18 holes and then hit on the range. Driver was a big pull hook, but irons were fine. Overall, pretty pleased with where I am in January.

Day 33 - Had a little fun today with indoor putting practice by doing Faxon's "6 putts from 6' with 6 different clubs (putter last)" drill.  For the first 5 clubs I used Driver, 9-wood, 6i, PW and LW. It took two tries to "sink" all 6 putts in a row (the "hole" was my perfect putt trainer).  Apparently, Fax uses this drill frequently with juniors and had Mcilroy do a version of it when they first started working together.

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
    • Day 136 12-26 Had a different practice planned today but life happened. Worked on "wide to wide" and still working on remaining flowy. Starting the club head in front of the ball as a drill, is helping with the flow of the swing.
