Day 55 (20 Aug 21) - During the round today, focused extensively on pre-shot routine.  This included club alignment, grip position lead and trail hand, getting squared to the anticipated shot path and then swinging smoothly through the shot.  Have to say this made for more consistent shot results.  On one hole I got super hurried and it showed with making a triple on that as I wound up fighting my way out of the forest on the approach after a decent drive.

Day 20:

Recentering work again, similar to yesterday.

Then on a whim tried out the AMG butt fingerprint feel for EE.

Continued to check for not regripping my right hand mid backswing.

Worked a bit on downswing priority piece with 3/4 swings.

Day 176.  Ten minutes of priority piece practice this afternoon.  It's coming along slowly but surely, and I think the time I'm spending a little bit each day is working out better for me than a single session of the combined times would have.

Day 56 (21 Aug 21) - Played 18 today.  Continued the pre-shot routine with the gripping, setting up to the club.  I am seeing more predictable shot placement.  Will continue this even in the backyard routines.  Having a set routine, whether driving, approach shots, etc. is making a difference.  Sensing that I am making good progress as the scores are settling down with blow-up holes happening fewer times per round.

Day 22:

Played 18. Tried something different (should have thought of this before). Just went out and played golf. No adjustments swing changes on course other than observing ball flight trend and adjusting my target accordingly. Played really well, especially on the front 9, and if not for a stupid triple bogey on the back 9, would have had a chance at beating my personal best.

Day 57 (22 Aug 21) - Worked on the pre-shot setup with the 9i in the backyard.  Limited 1/4-1/2 swings for pitches from 10yds up to 50yds.  Used it to work on getting ball distance dialed in.  As it was pitches and not full swings, it was about proximity of actual to planned landing zones.  Took maybe a total of 30 swings over the half-hour session.

Day 178.  Got some video today, for private use only (unless I'm specifically asked for it, I guess).

Good news:  my priority piece, which involved weight at A3 and head movement issue, seems to have improved over the past week.  Bad news:  I might have reverted a bit about my previous priority piece, which involved just how far back I take the club.

Good news though:  contact is still great, which is what will matter the most for me as I go on vacation for the next few days.  If I can hit the ball well on vacation, that'll be great, and I can get back to trying to improve my swing on Friday.

Oh, I guess I should list what the practice itself was today, shouldn't I? :-)  6-iron, spent about 30 minutes hitting shots and checking video whenever I actually went and hit a ball, which was at a decent pace.

Day 301: Took yesterday off due to the storm. Today, I went to a course intending to go to the range, but there was nobody there. An outing had cancelled due to Henri. So I played 18 solo. Birdied 15, the number 2 handicap hole.

Day 302: Range work today. Started with distance wedges with pieces from my latest Evolvr lesson. Focused on palmar flexion on the downswing and getting chest toward target at A8 - A9, which is a limiter for me. Trying to lower ball flight and have the club less laid down through impact. Applied the chest piece for other full swing work with other clubs as well. Finished with SuperSpeed.

Bonus, ran into @Bob M at the range. I knew this was his course and eventually we would meet!

Day 1 (8/24/21) - Starting over (again). Went to the range at NKGC to work on 9:00 swing shots with my 9, PW, UW and SW. Hit 10 balls with each using the "Target" mode on my SC100. Then worked on hitting 5-wood and a variety of shots with my 11-wood (full and half swings, punch shots and out of the rough). On the putting green did the "Inner Circle" and "Circle the Hole" drills from "Instinct Putting".

When I first got to the range, there was only one other guy there and....it turned out to be @boogielicious! Great to meet a fellow TST er in person.

(I missed yesterday, 8/23/21;  my previous miss was 8/5 and before that it was months before)

Day 179.   Played 18 today at a Pete Dye course in the desert:  PGA West Pete Dye Dunes course.  I hit 9 GIR, another 5 near-GIR, and shot 87.  No hole worse than double bogey.

Hit every par-5 in regulation and played them in a total of +1 (three-putted the first one I hit after a poor approach shot), played the par-3s in +3 (my only par on one was up and down from my only bunker of the day;  the one I hit in regulation was because I aimed way way way far away from the pin and ended up three-putting).  All double bogeys were on par-4s:  3 doubles, 2 pars, and the rest bogeys.

A good ball striking round :-)

Day 24:

Did rehearsals, without a club, in my office for the new dynamic shoulder motion I am trying to get into my downswing. I'm searching for a simple feel or thought to make sure I recenter correctly before transition, and also for driving my trail shoulder down and around my axis of rotation.

Long ago, before I started lessons, I was pretty good at the shoulder move, but I didn't understand recentering/flow so I was also hanging back on my trail foot and hit the ball terribly even though my shoulder move looked okay in isolation.

I'm hopefully going to have time to do a little work with a real club when I get home too, but not sure yet.

Day 59 (24 Aug 21)  - Monthly men’s church group beat ball outing.  Great day to just let it rip off the tee and making the most of wedges into the green.  Toughest part was putting - the greens had been just punched and sanded.  Called for being confident in the stroke as the ball just seemed to die off the putter.

    • Day 21, May 25.  Hit "the whole bucket" as practice today after reviewing my Skillest lesson.  I think something crept into my swing last week that wasn't in the lesson, so I went back to the lesson and renewed my focus.  Each ball was a minute or so, 2-3 slow rehearsal backswings and checking the mirror for how far back I was going. "The whole bucket" means every ball I have in the bin at my indoor practice room;  I counted when I put them back, that's six dozen plus six total.  That is probably more full swings than I took over the weekend (excluding range warm-ups) in two rounds!  But these were all with a 6-iron.
    • Day 265 5-25 Hit some balls just to see where i was, no "thoughts' except getting arms in front. Did some recording where i focused on getting chest through and arms in front.
    • Day 76 (25 May 26) - Broke out the "vintage" clubs (MacGregor blades, Wilson 4150 laminates) to work with clubs that are much less forgiving.  Worked through the bag using hard foam balls for the full swings, regular balls for the chips and pitches.  Found it to be a more focused session on making consistent contact.
    • Can you elaborate on this?  There's a par-4 hole at the course I've played the most (was my home course for over a decade, now 50 miles away but I still go and play there) whose green is below the fairway and I realized recently it's one of three holes on the course I've never made birdie, despite that I often have a short iron into the green for my second shot.  It isn't even that I haven't made birdie, but I realize I often don't hit the green.  My typical play of the hole is to have a near-GIR and sometimes I get up and down, but not as often as I would if I were trying to 2-putt.
