Day 76.  Qualifier (stroke play) for my club's match play tournament.  Shot an 86 and qualified :-)

Also in happy news:  my putting.  No, I didn't make many more putts, but I did miss in a lot better places.  My missed putts from long range are closer and my missed putts from 3-15' are typically going past the hole but leaving me with a tap-in (instead of 1-2').  I think this is a result of more putting practice and means the skill is improving because my misses are smaller.

Day 38-41

Continued to work on rotation and weight shift drills through the middle/end of the week. Today I took my mom golfing as a belated Mother's Day gift. Also brought my son along for his first round ever.

Played a par 3 course. Shot one-under. Which I'm pretty proud of given that it was a SLOW round with a 5 year old. Struck the ball really well, and putting was solid. All the work I put in putting has definitely paid off. Back to the days when I was automatic from 5 feet and in.

Was really proud of the little guy. He didn't once show any signs of mental fatigue or boredom. He even got a round of applause from a group of 8 guys after his tee shot on the last hole.

And no, we weren't holding up play. This particular course has added a soccer type course that runs in tandem with their traditional 9-hole par 3 course. Kind of interesting and hadn't seen anything like that before. Essentially 18 holes with a soccer ball. Where the "hole" is essentially a 55 gallon drum embedded in the ground.

Day 582: Worked a bit on another piece of having my upper center move toward the target in transition. I call it the Leaning Tower of Pisa feel. It is more for the irons. For driver, it doesn’t need to be as pronounced. Videos the practice.

Day 127:

Played 18 this morning. Tried to simplify the mechanics of my priority piece (which is two things) into a feel but didn’t work great, so just settled on on of them after a few holes. Played okay except for a dumb triple bogey on #12.

Day 164 (22 May 22) - worked on getting weight on lead foot - used the reverse stork drill and 3w.  Key was to stay as balanced as possible, did okay.  Followed with some lefty swings with the Dunlop lefty 7i, focused on the pressure of my weight on my lead “right” foot.  Then turned it back around and completed the drill session with full swings with my SLDR 7i and the hard foam balls.

Was going to play golf, but it was raining and cold so I put in some work downtown between lessons.

Day 77.  After the PGA today, I went to a nearby course to practice putting (outdoors, real balls, real green).  After some warm-up, I did 4' and 6' drills with the "make one from all 12 places on the clock."  For the 4', it took me 17 putts, while for 6', it took me 20.  I'm very happy with those scores;  I consider 15 and 21, respectively, to be very good scores on those drills (more or less the rate a scratch golfer would make putts from those distances).

I also spent ten minutes hitting full shots and trying to gauge the quality of my existing camera since I've apparently decided its potato quality keeps me from taking good video with it, to be determined.

Day 42

Continued with rotation drills. Fortunately did this early in the day. As I broke my f'ing big toe this evening 😡.

Dropped a 3/4" sheet of mdf on it doing a project in the garage. Thinking I'll be out of commission for a bit, short of putting and maybe some chipping. Which I guess isn't the worst thing in the world.

Just sucks. Was really looking forward to this week's league. Especially after breaking par on the executive course earlier this weekend. But I'm not gonna push it.

Gonna call my Dr. tomorrow to see if there's anything I should do. Aside from avoid our Mastiff / Cane Corso who's a notorious foot stepper 🤣

Day 583: Range today working on the same items. Started with irons and setup. Worked on Leaning Tower feel. With driver, focused on setup with more knee bend and clearing hips in the backswing. Ball flight was slight pushes with driver. With irons, I had some pulls until I went back to the knee bend setup feel and clear hips. Finished with some chips on the practice green.

Day 204, May 23, 2022

35-45 minutes working on the feels:

  • Shift
  • Hinge in a way that my arms pull across (which doesn't happen, that's the feel)
  • Right wrist stays flat
  • Throw face open/behind me as I shift.

Went pretty well.

    • Tiger’s walking at the PNC and people say he’s not limping.
    • I haven't heard much of anything about it. Faux leather, sure. Biodegradable leather? No. No idea. You're a bit too new, still, to post links.
    • Okay, I'm genuinely curious about this "biodegradable leather" trend in golf. Are we talking snake oil here? I mean, golf balls, clubs... they all end up in the water eventually. Is this just greenwashing, or is there actually a real environmental benefit? And honestly, does it even perform as well as traditional leather? I don't want to sacrifice distance for the planet, you know? Anyone with real-world experience with these eco-friendly golf goods? Spill the tea!
