Well yesterday I was on Trackman trying to get my shot zones (which was not what I hoped it would be, but thats a different story) and during my driver swings I broke the shaft on my driver!! :-( Caught a couple shots in a row near the heel and all of a sudden it felt like my driver head was loose. It took two more swings to figure out what was causing the feeling, and I looked down and sure enough my driver shaft had a crack in it. I was pretty bummed because I was really looking forward to hitting driver more often, due to what I read about the distant gradient in LSW. Looks like I will either be hitting 3 wood or a Taylormade Minidriver I still have until I can afford a new driver.

Try to shorten the driver shaft.

Also, try using an application like game Golf or arcos to get your shot zones.

I'm curious what the basis or justification is for this recommendation?

Ohh man, I am so sorry to hear that. :-(

Look on the bright side, if you get a tax refund, you have time to start a search, test and find your best driver.

Also if you loved that driver you can get it reshafted.

Just a few thoughts.

Just a guess on my part, but by shortening the shaft, the broken part is removed. If it still fits, the shortened shaft can be reused in the the same driver head.

It's kind of a temporary fix to still use the driver loft. A shortened shaft may also feel funny, but might also offer more control/accuracy.

As long as the shortened driver delivers more positive value in distance than the 3 wood,  it's a viable fix until a full length replacement is found.

Easier to control.

Instead of buying a new driver why wouldn't you just buy a new shaft and save a couple hundred dollars or more?

Yup I will be looking into that for sure. Never occurred to me when it happened, but as yourself and others I have posted its a good thing for me to look into. I appreciate everyones feedback.
