I love how Mike weir swings. His whole set up and swing is something I like to try to emulate.

I would have to say Adam Scott and Ernie.

Smooth, powerful.

That is really surprising. I have been to a couple of pga events and have walked a with a something each day. One day I followed Jesper Parnivik. He was playing really well and I could tell that he just was envisioning his shot going down the fairway and onto the green and into the cup. It was a new way to look at playing the next time. That is how I see Mike Weir swing. I have never seen him play but I can tell it starts with his swing and how it feels in his set up.

If you have had the chance to see a pga professional play don't pass it up you will take something good away from it.

No one. My swing is my swing, and trying to alter it majorly just to emulate a pro would cause me to blow a gaskit, go insane, toss my clubs in the lake and quit the game. I have enough problems with this game without having to deal with shanks, duffs, worm burners and banana balls...

Used to mess around going from one pro swing to another, it's was a lot of fun, but I stopped that and am now playing much, much better using what works for me and not trying to look like or emulate any pro.

Come to think of it, my game has improved so much since I stopped watching golf on TV, because seeing these pros play so well, there is a tendency to try and emulate them and that screws up your swing and game which is not so bad if you're playing easy courses, but if you're on a really tough course you will get destroyed if your swing is messed up.

For my driver swing, I try to swing like Bubba Watson, did I few modification and seem to be helping my driver to be more consistent. Iron wise, I always like how Ernie Els does his swing, simple yet effective.

I quit reading golf magazines because of that.
I went several years with no game of my own.
From one round to the next I was trying to play like a different guy.
That was horrible. I never even liked Lanny Wadkins and I sure couldn't duplicate Ray Floyd.

I try to duplicate one thing in practice now:
Fred Couples' tempo and relaxed muscles.

i don't try swing like them but i hit it very similar to Geoff Ogilvy. I would watch Retief Goosen as much as possible when he plays in Ireland - effortless rhythm.

i'd love to have a swing like Justin Rose or Rory McIlroy though!

    • Rule 1.2b refers you to a section in the Committee Procedures (Section 5I) that helps explain what a Code of Conduct may (and may not) do.  Defining acceptable behavior (including smoking) and applying Stroke of DQ penalties are certainly within the Committee's authority. That Code of Conduct certainly should be available, either in written form or in a webpage accessible to all.  It may not show up on the "standard local rules" for an organization, the "hard card", as it sounds like its a policy of this particular golf course. Assuming that's the case it should show up on the Notice to Players for this particular event.  If you can't find it, ask someone, send an email, try to find out.   In summary, yes the Committee can DQ (or withdraw) a Player for smoking, even before or between rounds.  But its up to you to go from there, communication is the key here.

    • Hmm... I not sure I completely understand. If the course has a no smoking policy, then he shouldn't smoke at the course.  I'm assuming since you are aware of the policy, it must be written down somewhere.  As far as getting disqualified from the tournament, I would think that would be up to the committee. But it feels like it is within their power to disqualify, so why take the chance?
