He was standing in a tee box, must have been a really wayward strike to be coming in that hot? Always yell fore, fellow golfers.

Edit: Misread - standing near 2nd tee. Still, normally don't expect to get hit near a tee box.

One of my best friends in HS took one to the jaw as he was walking off the elevate ee box, from another kid he in his group. My friend mistakenly started to walk to pickup his bag, which was off to the side but in front of the tees and the other kid hit a heel shot that cracked him pretty good.
Getting hit in the temple is horrible, hopefully we won't have to start wearing helmets playing golf.

Sounds like a shank in this instance, but this is why you DON'T HIT INTO THE GROUP IN FRONT OF YOU!

Im sure all know this but cant hurt to re-iterate it. If you hear someone yell "FORE", turn away from the direction of the shout, crouch and cover your head. I see too many people turn to look at where the shout came from.

Must add that the proviso for the above is that the guilty party yells FORE, too many golfers dont do it.

Good reminder. Yes, this was tragic and probably preventable, if the victim had stood behind the guy who hit the shot. Imagine how this guy feels now...

On the subject of "fore", too many people don't say it or have a fear of yelling in public and say it so softly that nobody except their foursome can hear it. Then, they come by and apologize, sometimes profusely but I always tell them: "the magic word is fore, not sorry: you can keep sorry for when you kill me because you didn't yell fore!..."
