I've played both. Rugby is by far more hazardous to cause injuries.

Not saying the article or whatever study they're referencing is correct, but consider who plays golf vs. who plays rugby, and the relative ages of the people who play them.

In my bag:

Driver: Titleist TSi3 | 15º 3-Wood: Ping G410 | 17º 2-Hybrid: Ping G410 | 19º 3-Iron: TaylorMade GAPR Lo |4-PW Irons: Nike VR Pro Combo | 54º SW, 60º LW: Titleist Vokey SM8 | Putter: Odyssey Toulon Las Vegas H7

A lady lost an eye recently at a PGA event when her eye was smashed by an errant drive (I think by Alex Noren).  So a helmet isn't enough.  They'll be forced to wear a helmet and protective goggles.  Or maybe they'll erect netting in front of the patrons.  I wear a helmet when I watch it on TV.  I mean, you never know, you know?

I was thinking in more in terms of how the sport can cause injury. Other than being hit by a ball, golf injuries are more repetitive motion injuries. Rugby are more impact injuries caused by other players.

It was at the Ryder Cup, in France. It was a Brooks Koepka drive, going for it on a short par 4 (around 300 yards), like most players were doing. He yelled fore, but of course couldn't be heard and the marshals by the green didn't relay the information in time. It caught that poor lady in the eye, on the fly.
